Hey folks thanks for all the tips so far.

I'm a pretty casual player and was wondering if there were more laid back units on here. I'm definitely not a hard-core meta-maxer. I like coordinating as it seems to work better. I also just like having fun and a few laughs with friends while playing and not taking the game too seriously. I do mean casual because real-life (job and such) does mean I cannot always be on regularly. Posted Image

Pacific Time, some evenings and weekends.

Cheers!

P.S. Dunno if forming guilds/units have any special reqs here? I may form my own if I can talk a few of my friends into playing.

Hey man, I'm in a tiny unit BRAC'd off of the old 1st Rasalhague Dragon Regimente. It's just like 4-5 of us, on only intermittently, but it's super laid-back and gives some fun times. dunno if that's kinda what you're looking for, but we basically just do quickies and some recon stuff.

If you're interested, look up Liquid Leopard. He's the leader. Cool guy.

I encourage you to find your way to the FWL.

I was very similar, and still am. Most of the players in House Marik are casual. I implore you to jump to this forum topic...I promise you will find what you're looking for.

I also think that if you're unable to dedicate a lot of time to this game, perhaps a "unit" isn't the right way to go.

I'm not a part of a unit, our banner of Marik is our unifier. Every time I log on, there are at least 6 other Marik players in our Team Speak, general (QP) drop bays alone. And you can choose to drop with those who are there, or just sit and talk.
Some in units, others not, we drop as one. All skill levels welcome.

Hello Rerednaw!

I'm very similar to you...wanting some organization with the understanding that we're here to have fun and enjoy MWO, not get stressed out about meta builds and PSR. Found a great group of friends here:

Register, make an introduction post, and we'll be there to answer any questions you may have about us. Our TS info is listed on that page as well. Looking forward to seeing you out there on one side of the field or the other!!

I'm fairly sure it's become almost a running joke to ask to join whether you are actually interested or not.

Seems every time I see that [EMP] tag, somebody in chat asks about joining.

Assuming you haven't found a place yet I'd first recommend figuring out if you want to be Clan, IS, or Merc (that swaps where the money is good). Then start looking in the group queue and maybe find a few decent peeps and while they may not be the right mix for you maybe they can point you in the right direction. You'll also want to decide if your cool with just QP drops or want a lot of FP but the units with a lot of FP are probably a bit more hardcore but there are units that pretty much never unit play FP.

There are tons of units out there though but honestly a lot of just *meh* units who never really do much of anything together and/or don't help out newer players figure things out and just sort of toss you to the wolves. But also to be in a decent unit you have to be willing to be a decent member which doesn't mean a skilled player specifically but more of a team player who actually wants someplace to fit into.

Lastly I'd say NOT to join any unit that will just pop you an invite like that (it costs cbills to invite someone and every new member the price goes up). Look for those who suggest a few drops with them first just to see if you and they are a fit.

Can always take note in QP matches of those who are in a unit and friendly/chatty and toss a few friend requests out to see how they respond.

Well you are in luck. I dropped with them last night and asked. They said they had no idea as per actual numbers but it is definitely a lot. ::shrug::

The Darkstar Alliance is a largely oceanic casual unit, but we also have a comp team so players of all types fit in well :)

Our drunkship Friday's go off like jagerbombs
