So should/is bushwacker the first IS mech that can equip XL engine without getting torso checked?
Is it the first hybrid mech???
Looking forward to see how this is going to be resolved.

Yea, but the developers also devoted quite a bit of energy to at least appease the lore crowd. Bushwacker is clearly an Inner Sphere Clan mech. (lore and otherwise) So there's an inherent conflict there.

The Clan part was just using the Vulture as an inspiration for the mech's body shape, it had nothing to do with literally using Clan tech.

It really isn't. They used some specs on the Mad Dog in order to lay out the engine systems, but that doesn't mean they were capable of building a compact, durable Clan XL engine. It is still an IS XL engine, but with a somewhat unique engine layout to fit in the mech.

Pretty sure it's not just an inspiration for the body shape, but the whole "engine" thing, hence the argument.

Not sure what engine shielding means. But I'm gonna take a guess and say that just by the literal definition, it has everything to do with this issue.

Have no fear - based on the MEch development year (I don't thing there's an in game year anymore) LFE's are in the prototype stage and are being closely guarded by the Wolf's Dragoons right now.

Nope. But keep grasping.

Here is the full explanation from TRO:3058U
"Unfortunately this fundamental break with traditional design resulted in a complex and crowded internal structure. The fusion engine’s close proximity to the sensor and communication suites generated internal interference which caused frequent targeting and sensor system failures. Though evaluators were impressed with the basic design and its capabilities, these chronic and apparently insoluble electronic difficulties fairly guaranteed the Bushwacker would never see full production.
This dreary prognosis was reversed by a successful raid on a Jade Falcon base on Twycross. Among other discoveries was an extensive collection of technical specifications and schematic diagrams for a number of Clan BattleMechs. Of particular interest to the Bushwacker design team was the Clan Vulture.Though a more vertical design than the Bushwacker, the Vulture’s interior shared the same compressed volume issues. To compensate, the Clan engineers had made several unusual decisions in the internal layout which minimized the fusion engine’s interference with sensitive systems. Adapting the Clan solutions to the Bushwacker’s unique needs, the design engineers were able to reconfigure the ’Mech’s internal structure to eliminate the electronic interference."
Sorry, no Clan-Tech engine. Also see the RS:
