MWO has exceptionally friendly community of players. Match after match I feel amazed how nice group of people we have playing this game.

The nature of the players especially come out when we lose a match. There's none of blaming or calling others "noob" for making mistakes, instead people give respect to opponents' ability to outplay them and I often see/hear encouraging "good try" for the own team.

I hope this is the case also in higher tiers, as my tier is steadily rising, but at least on tier 3 and 4 people are just awesome.

This is a pretty good community, even when people are absolutely horrible they suggest practice, checking mouse sensitivity, and other things rather than outright insulting them most of the time.

In other games if you are last man and don't singlehandedly kill the enemy team people get mad at you. Here the enemy team is too busy congratulating the last man who killed their whole team to insult each other.

EDIT: Another thing is in this game losses feel right, you don't just turn corners and get instantly headshot, you don't fire at enemies and have RNG tell you you miss, the enemy didn't win from a load of random button mashing. You get a feel that you control just how fast you die in a variety of situations. Its one of the reasons that I stick around in MWO, it just feels right.

Honestly, the most you can hope for in a F2P game like this is "adequate". And we have plenty of adequate people.

Whiners do exist, but they are few and far between. Compared to other online games I play, MWO community is Shangri-La.

Comparing the MWO community to the WoWs community, its like two completely different species.
Like for instance last week, i played a game in WoWs with the usual potato team, was last man alive in my Scharnhorst, finished off enemy BBs in a 2 v 1 (guess they didn't know i had torps muhahahaha), won the game.
Soon as i went back to port i had 3 separate players from my team, sending me threatening messages because they died and i didn't play how they wanted, all 3 can't even manage above 40% w/l.

Well, we are a Canadian game, after all, and everyone knows how polite Canadians are!

Ah, that reminds me of World of Tanks. Death threats for playing low tier artillery. Death threats for playing a Tiger P. Death threats for playing Germans in general. Basically, death threats for everything.

I don't know about the forums, but in-game that is honestly my experience . Posted Image

Since I started playing MWO again this summer, out of about 360 matches I've only met maybe total 3 players who were somewhat rude. And even those were nothing like the toxic people I meet constantly in other games. I also played a lot of MWO back in 2012 when it was beta and I remember having similar experience: friendly community.

Yep. It's same in games like Rocket League and Dota 2. It's not rare to see people tell others to "go kill yourself" or "get cancer" just for making small mistakes. And "noob" is a word I see being used in almost every match. Like you said, MWO is like different species..

My brother recently started really getting into the game. He was surprised at how often there was someone on voip helping to direct the fighting.
Conversely though, I remember a match where a guy was trying to do that and one guy suddenly said "Shut the eff bomb up already." I get the feeling he died early on. A lot of people who get killed early in a match, are usually the ones that start talking trash.

I highly agree. I think it's due to higher average age of players plus integrated voice com.

Unfortunately... I disagree. Forum so far tends to be better. Much more salt higher up in game. Lost track how many times I've had players complaint 'this team sucks', 'you buncha losers' etc etc even when the complainant was like 150 dmg death. So as a friendly warning, expect those a little more as u go tier 2, tier 1

Eh, I get to feeling salty sometimes and I don't have a whole lot of experience with gaming communities in F2P games since this is the first one that I felt invested enough in to get involved with the forums. Sometimes it can seem like a real organ grinder in here to me but... from what other more "F2P experienced" players have told me, the MWO community is a walk in the park compared to games like World of Tanks, War Thunder, Hearthstone, and other games that have been mentioned in the past that I simply can't remember right now. I do remember when I first started this game being impressed with the amount of etiquette in in-game chat, which is something I do have a bit more experience with in other games. People who go about the game spouting lines like "ggclose git gud scrub ggez" are generally frowned upon and shunned by the players that populate the match they are in.

Agreed. After coming from World of Tanks, this community is more mature and easier to have fun with. VOIP chat in team can be hilarious at times as well.

I know there have been a couple low points on the forums, but overall there isn't anything too extremely negative.

Even if there something we hate or dislike it's only because we want so bad for this to be a great experience like all of our other Battletech/Mechwarrior memories.

I'm not sure this holds true in tier 1. For example, people are always typing "GL HF". Why are they always saying "giant labia huge 4skin" to me? It makes me feel self conscious and I think it's kind of mean.
