MWO has exceptionally friendly community of players. Match after match I feel amazed how nice group of people we have playing this game.

The nature of the players especially come out when we lose a match. There's none of blaming or calling others "noob" for making mistakes, instead people give respect to opponents' ability to outplay them and I often see/hear encouraging "good try" for the own team.

I hope this is the case also in higher tiers, as my tier is steadily rising, but at least on tier 3 and 4 people are just awesome.

Strange...
Click Settings and make sure "Enable All Chat" "Enable Team Chat" and "Enable Lance Chat" are all check marked. ;)

I'm not sure this holds true in tier 1. For example, people are always typing "GL HF". I think it's kind of mean.

I agree, I can't stand the arrogance of people that tell you their loadout before you're out of the dropship. Shaddup ya elitist scum, we know you think you're hot schnitzel with green lasers, have ferro.

Considering how awful some of the people I've met in-game and on the forums are, I'd say this place is one riot away from 4chan or reddit.

So no, not the nicest community at all. I've experienced a lot better elsewhere.

Yes, I suppose it is. Some of us are less benevolent than others.

But spend some time on the MWO reddits and you might change your mind.

Have to agree with the OP in that this is easily one of the friendliest in game communities. Having spent years playing WoT it is refreshing to see an in game chat that is not full of bigotry, hatred, blame, death threats, suggestions that you / your family should die of a terminal illness etcetera. There is certainly no way in he'll I would ever use an in game voip in WoT.....does not bear thinking about.

Let's not forget the team killing just because your gamer tag looks vaguely (insert random nationality here).

Seriously, this community is by far one of the best. Props to you all, and Good hunting.

It has been worse since steam, and I'm not going after low hanging fruit.

I am pointing out that the steam integration is just the needed step by pgi to get the numbers to survive. To do this they had to bring in more of the mainstream gaming community. AND as as result more DAMAGE == my level of being regardless of helping my team.

BUT this game does really support team play and "lets give them a try" attitude when it comes to helping others.

I do need to remind myself of this sometimes, but I do like my time spent in game and on the forums better than the options.

The forums aren't bad, the game itself...

I've actually been running with chat and voice turned off lately because of the amount of harassment I've received for running a Direwolf with a non-standard build.

It was easier than reporting 3 people on my team in every match.

It's pretty good, yeah. Definitely better than most other PVP games I've played. And even if there's 1 or 2 rude people in every match, that's still a pretty low percentage by internet standards.

Community atmosphere rocks.

Mature, experienced gamers with good humour and the right attitude towards a decent leisure time.

Always lifts the spirit to come into game and listen or read the chatter ... Seldom crybabies aren't able to harm the overall impression.

Bottom line: MWO is since 2009 the first MMO i really enjoy and the community is a big part of this joy.

The 2nd best PvP focused community and 3rd best community overall I've had the pleasure to play with, and the other two games are long gone. I actually normally dislike PvP and the common attitude surrounding it, but still stick around here because I'm enjoying myself, both in game and on the forums. This game and you guys fits my casual gamestyle perfectly, and I feel accepted even if I'm an aging gamer with subpar eye to hand coordination. =D

There are nasties in Quick play but they are easy to deal with and usually don't last long. The tryhards well they be tryhards only a bullet in the head will ever change that attitude. They will exploit till they die. Its their nature. PGI could go after them and clean up a lot of gameplay but I don't see that happening ever. They will just pull the democratic policy of never talking about it and shaming and blaming the russians when they do.

Being said you run into many exceptional players who will come to your aid and fight like a team. Top notch guys and confident shot callers. It makes the game worth playing.

Aside from suspected cheaters, which are typically outcast by their own factions too... (And cheating is a rare occurrence in this game, some are suspected, few confirmed as you don't drop against the same person again and again so its difficult to pinpoint between luck, skill and an aimbot)
But I digress...

I do feel like this community, after a long hard faught campaign of on the field, that we can all gather in a bar, in our torn up, sometimes scorched jumpsuits, faction patches on one arm, unit patches on the other and shoot the ***t.
"Man that was a great tactic you used to take out my right torso" etc etc.

This community is definitely different than other game I've played... For a F2P game, the community is close almost like an MMO.

Except clanners.
They're not real people anyway.

OP is right it is and was a great community it is just to bad the other 500,000 + active players left MWO for other games and made it basicly a graveyard.

Good job PGI keep up the mech packs and ignore any more new game modes a social environment or anything else all is well in MWO utopia.

I got that the other day in my KTO-18 (5xlrm5 and 2xmpls). At the beginning of the match we had a dire whale that gave me crap about running a Kintaro and kept intentionally running into me (he never shot me, just tried hitting me) and blocking (in a whale?). At the end of the game, I have no idea how much team damage he did - I had 24. And 7 kills, 4 assists and 1200-something damage.
