Anyone catch the nerd rage about Arc: survival Evolved? The 20 dollar game with a 20 dollar DLC? I was having such a chuckle about it..

To bad this game wasn't like that though,, run your own server, add mods.. ect.. I think most people here would give their left *&^# for all that for 40 bucks. Game looks darn good too, if i had the time i might have to give it a shot on a private server..

But they made this community seam so tame in our outrage.. Are we slipping? Posted Image

Ask is a fun game and enjoyable to play either with large groups of people or on private servers. However, the game is so terribly optimized that my system can't bother to run even medium settings without massive frame rate drops, and I got the comp this year so I know it's not age. If the expansion came at the same time as a large amount of polish on some of the issues that have been there for a year people would have snapped it up in a heartbeat.

The toxicity of this community is a myth created by old gamers who have very limited experience with other gaming communities or perhaps even online communities in general.

Seriously this.
Compared to the forums of other F2P games (like World of Tanks) or 4chan/V/VG this forum is a hippie community. Same ingame, compared to the amount of hate you get in games like WoT or LoL the chat is really super civil. When was the last time in MWO someone called you a cheating ******** just because you played better (which happens daily in LoL and literallly every other match in WoT)?

Try the Halo community. While far from COD levels of zealotry, the blindstruck are either defending or attacking the franchise like wild beasts. Cant blame them though, M$ have seen that people buy willingly packs of stuff to avoid the random picked requisition stuff.

I havent tried ARK, but might sometime. Since as far as I recall, the game got sued for something regarding the name? Can halt the full release? Better get it before something bad happens.

Also the toxcity here around are maybe minimal but good grief it can get so blown up in proportions that it might seems everything about this game are 10x worse than it actually is. Sure yeah, PGI need to get themself together no doubt but theres no need to zealous rampaging surfing on salty waves. Dosent help ANYONE!

Hah, yeah, it's pretty funny! In MWO the worst thing that can ever happen ingame is when someone says GG...

... when it wasn't even a close match! HOW DARE THEY!?

Ark is..ok. It's like No Mans Sky....they hyped it so much it was bound to disappoint a very eager part of their fanbase. While being good to ok they were billed as the second coming of Christ in a game. What we got were very good themes with poor execution and lackluster story telling....they 'failed to engage'. Which is a common complaint of the old timers on here. You wanted a Battletech Sim rich with lore and what you got is an FPS that has no lore. I'm ok with an FPS MWO...heck I actually enjoy the poo out of it....but even I would love something more.

Both of these, and it seems a lot of games lately, are just huge grindfests. I guess I'm old but they seem to be missing the 'soul' that older games had. Take Heroes of Might and Magic - fantasy grinder but engaging.

AFA this community...well, I'm not going to open that flamewar again. I'm a long time console player and their attitudes are mandated by the younger age group they are filled with.

Not to forget

Not to forget that MWO and HBS's new Battletech game have a huge overlap in community. And over on the Battletech forums I have yet to see a troll- or toxic posting, even when opinions differ on important subjects (turn order, secondary targets etc.). Those are nearly always discussed in a friendly and constructive manner.
So I guess it's pretty obvious that's not the community who is at fault here for creating such a negative atmosphere in MWO.

Trust me it's coming.

Also It's not obvious for the negative atmosphere. To be honest, just stay away from the general forums, and a few names, and the forums will probably resemble the HBS forums.

Also, you're conclusion would explain player-dev hostility. It doesn't explain player-player hostility. Try again

Friend of mine frequently reads the minecraft forums. From the conversations I've had with him about those forums they are the most psychotically toxic you will ever find in gaming.

Ark is a fun game, put about 200 hours in I think. The main problem for me is that unofficial servers wipe regularly to avoid clutter on the map, and official ones have a massive grind.

With that said, I wasn't exactly impressed when steam started downloading 8GB of DLC I can't use without paying, on my slow and limited internet while I was trying to round up team members for a MWOWC game (ended up rescheduled).

Topic was about "nerd outrage", which, I would guess, is by definition against the Devs. Your turn to "try again".
MWO forums also were way more friendly back in Cloesd Beta days before it became obvious that PGI 1)has no idea what they are doing an 2) doesn't give a **** about their customers' opinion.

It's a fallacy to say the BT fans are such a bitter community. They are loyal and constructive if you treat them right. PGI didn't, and they got what they deserved. Every bit of negative publicity MWO resulted from their abysmal handling of their own game and their customers, not from a "toxic community".

I gave up on Steam....too many crashes. (on busy nights I'd get 20 in 3 or 4 hours)
I D/L the MWO game client and haven't had but one crash in the last month. (and that might have just been an internet burp)

You will find that most of the players are the following

1) Over the age of normal 20-30 year old gamers so they have a mentality of hey its just a game.
2) Old time board gamers that have played this game from 1986 when it was first made so have a major respect for the game.
3) Not 12 year olds or younger that only live off ding dongs that yell and curse at the screen if they die (it happens but not much)
4) Dont live in their Moms basement
5) Been playing video games longer than most of the World of tanks or COD players were born
6) Are ADULTS..
7) Have real jobs and work or manage people

Enough said

Only friendlier community I know is the XCOM reddit. They literally didn't have any moderation on that board for three or so weeks and no one even noticed xD!

most gaming communities have toxic players that bash other players. here, we all bash PGI.
