I have actually always been aware of this since I started reading on the forums. That's part of the reason why Founder entitlement has always rubbed me the wrong way. That, and the fact that I am extremely jealous of anyone who owns the Founder Catapult. (Seriously! F***. You. You don't love the CPLT-C1(F) like I do. You don't deserve her.)

But there are plenty of people who have spent twice, thrice, ten times or even more than ten times as much as a lot of the angry Founders who talk about how we wouldn't be here if it weren't for them or how PGI betrayed them and how they wish person X at PGI would die in a tractor accident. Why? Because they plunked down 40 bucks for a Founder package in 2011 and then PGI implemented 3PV. As if that means Russ should be on his hands and knees thanking them and begging their forgiveness forever.

And on top of their blinding rage / haughty demeanour towards PGI, there's also the Founder Snowflakism. "Nobody shall share my Founder mech geometry! You cannot put a price on what I have sacrificed to become a Founder! Never was so much owed by so many to so few!"

Come at me Founder bros.

Juodas would be fine if they tossed him a four legged bone.

I'm not quite sure I understand you. I don't know how it all went down, but I thought MWO was funded partially by PGI, partially by IGP and partially by the players. So who can go fk themselves and why?

The founders apparently, according to your "tongue in cheek" post. You think this game would exist without their funding? You think pgi and igp would have made the game without their funding? Ofcourse pgi and igp, at some point, had to downplay the crowdfunding part, they didnt have much choice after what they did. But remember that this was a first, a game in 2012 racking so much money in crowdfunding outside of Kickstarter who was just starting, it was making the news.

Oh, I see what you're saying now.

I don't know how important the founders actually were. Nobody does. But individually, they weren't that important. And when you look at the stuff some founders are complaining about, they don't even represent the majority of the founders. Were a lot of founders investing on the game based on the pitch of 4 pillars of MWO, with role warfare, information warfare, community warfare and mech warfare? Yes. Is it legitimate to complain about the lack of these 4 pillars? Yes.

But when founders stomp their feet and throw a hissy fit because of some obscure reference to the tabletop game or a very specific vision of what MWO should have been, and they don't represent the majority of the founders, and their huge personal contribution to the game was $40 or $80 then... GTFO. That's just silly. PGI didn't pledge to satisfy the whims of every founder.

A lot of founder complaints are legit, and a lot of them are silly. Hence the "tongue in cheek" disclaimer.

A quad mech cockpit item would be pretty funny.

ECM Ravens never disappeared. They only faded once hit-reg became better and PGI increased Raven's leg hit-boxes. Streakcats were basically extinct during poptart heyday. I dropped with my A1 in hundreds of matches after Victor and Highlanders were released, and almost all the time I was the sole Streakcat. In fact, players commented on how rare it is to see one in game, once they saw my loadout.

They never literally disappeared, of course. Nor did streakboats literally die out. But I've been a die-hard Raven player since I started in 2012, back when the RVN-2X and RVN-4X were hardcore mode with 240 engine cap or whatever it was. I never touched the RVN-3L because it was so overpowered. But after they nerfed the SSRM2, I gradually started using the RVN-3L and started using the 2xERLL build before it became mainstream (because I'm l33t). It was the Streak nerf that killed the "cookie cutter Raven", as it was called back then, when everyone used the exact same build. And it was the Streak nerf that killed all other popular streak builds, such as the Streak Commando (which was actually fairly common, back in the day) and the Streak Catapult. Over night, light mech players went from RVN-3L to JR7-F.

Yes the CPLT-C1(F) is a sexy beast. Favorit all time mech on TT and MWO. Personally if PGI offered the founders mechs again for $80 - 120 I'd be ok with it.
Special once in a life time things should be protected, but for the good of the game a pay wall is ok. otherwise good luck using it in a few years.

Introduced to FASA games with Shadowrun in '90 or so.
MW2 on PlayStation back in '96 (recognized the FASA logo and decided to try it).
MW3 for PC after that.
MW4 single player until '02, then online and in competitive leagues from '02 through '08.
I still have every single one of those games, and multiple copies of some, and I have other related titles like Mechcommander and StarSiege but I never got into them much. Never played MechAssault because it was too goofy for a MW title, even though I've heard it's a fairly fun game.
MWO registered 6/1/2012, closed beta approval 6/7/2012, Legendary Founder purchase 9/23/2012. Since then...I've bought some stuff, not bought most other stuff. I don't think PGI owes me anything as a Founder, I just have fundamental differences of opinion with the direction they've chosen to take the title (TL;DR version: it's a vid game, not TT BT, so it should focus on being a good shooter first, sim second, and true to BT/MW lore third, with no consideration whatsoever given to TT values or mechanics, because they simply do not translate worth a damn.)
