Yes. I want to bash my head against my desk every time I see someone say something like "We really need to rein in laser vomit" or "Everybody uses laser vomit because its so good and easy to use".

Group queue is the private playground of TU, Trolls United. Sometimes solo queue gets polluted to though. :)

If playing well and playing to win are TROLL TACTICS then yeah, i guess you are right.

Seems to me some just cant hang there and must find things to blame their short comings on and uncover reasons they lost other then just sucking it up. Surely it was cheats, or hax or even the dreaded LASER VOMIT!

But what do I know, im apparently just a Troll come to play Forum warrior.

Well in all fairness Gas, Laser Vomit is easy to use... and a lot of pilots can't seem to rub two brain-cells together to figure out how to lead a target for PPC's / AC's....

I play Group Queue all day, and it's a gross exaggeration to say it's all Gauss and PPC.

Sigh. Would someone explain how Energy Draw makes the same weapon combination both "the only thing worth using" while at the same time will cause that same combination to "evaporate". I'm a very simple fellow and I need all the help I can get understanding this sort of divergence.

because its not going to evaporate

ppcs/gauss give the best pinpoint damage per energy so why would they evaporate? its foolish to think they will

that weapon combo gives the biggest return for the energy spent while also still allowing you to regulate heat

First of all, I don't visit the group queue very often. I played a few matches the day before yesterday, and though gauss+ppc was definitely present and more common than in solo queue, it was still not the most common build. I saw just as many mixed builds, laservomit builds and dakka builds as I saw gauss+ppc.

Second of all, one of the reasons that people don't notice that laservomit isn't the dominant meta anymore is that a bunch of people on the forum don't actually play that much, or at all. And they still pretend like they understand the game intimately, while arguing that the triple ERPPC Thunderbolt 9S is a menace that must be dealt with.

Third... it really does seem like matchmaker has been blown wide open lately. I'm playing with my Tier 2 alt account and I keep getting into matches with people I know to be Tier 1 max. Even during prime NA times. So it's harder to get a sense of what the best players are using, when it's hard to consistently get matched up against other top players in this game.

It's what happens when you overnerf a part of the meta that hasn't even been a problem for the past 4-6 months. Between the laser vomit nerfs and the dakka mech nerfs, its no surprise the Gauss/PPCs became resurgent.

and even less of a surprise that I feel even less need to log in, lol.

It can be a bit ridiculous at times, especially when some of the larger 8-10 man's are on and playing to win. Not every game is peek-sniper-online, but enough are to bring back memories of the Victor overlord days. Those that have been around long enough remember that dark time in MWO's history.

As an almost exclusive brawler, the group queue can be... trying... at times. It's either hide in cover for a good 5+ minutes browsing Imgur on my phone while both sides trade PPC/Gauss shots, or try to close the gap and pray to the flying spaghetti monster that there aren't 6 Kodiaks hiding behind the ridge I'm trying to close on. Not to say all matches aren't like this... sometimes it's not so bad, but it happens frequently enough to have left a bitter taste in my mouth... and as a HOBO you think I'd be used to bitter tastes in my mouth. Gotta earn that cheeseburger somehow, ya feel?
