Choice?
Not for clans.

No Choice for Clans but same capacity as IS (buff) and one slot less per DHS which is very valuable.

And no, I won't be disappointed if my Night Gyr doesn't have quirks. Most omnis dont have them and perform well. Night Gyr doesn't need quirks to be good. I expect them to be the next Kodiak in the heavy bracket.

I don't know, it doesn't have ideal hardpoints like the Kodiak and the Kodiak has quirks...

I mean, separated by 1.5 seconds is HUGE. And whats the point of using different weapons if ED doesn't make any allowance for mixing different weapon types?

I was under the impression that ED was trying to address the huge alpha strikes people can make, and subsequently the very short amount of time needed to kill someone. ED is a more generic system so as to affect all weapons, since it's damage based... it's not (to my knowledge) meant to address boating of the same weapons. Ghost heat was meant to combat boating AND time to kill. ED is more a band aid for the fact that GH only affected boating, but didn't really lengthen kill times.

I could be totally wrong, just, that's what my understanding of it was. It's a less game-able way to limit huge alpha strikes.

But hey! This is a thread about the Night Gyr... so... uh. MAN, DAT TEHRE IS A ROUND HED!!!

whether pts continues like this , next year we will have only 1 choice as only small laser on all mechs : and one shot per minute. The pgi want to make them passive and long games Posted Image ....

I regret the dynamic games of the beginning of Mwo Posted Image

That is the design goal. The problem is, "huge" alpha strikes are only issues for some people, and the amount of time it takes to kill a good player is very long, so ED's design goals are pretty bad, and are only championed by a select group of people.

Yeah this thread is about a 75 ton gunboat that goes the same speed as some assault mechs that won't be able to use its gunboatness save for dakka loadouts which were arguably going to be the strongest anyway, without ED. So yeah, ED shits on this mech (unless you take 4 UAC5s, YAY for build variety, ED is just SO great!).

While that would be nice, the "latest" 'mech so far is the Bushwacker from 3053 and the Cougar is 5 years after that. Now, the Pouncer...

A guy can dream can't he? Would be so glad to see this mech in the game, but hey I bought the Bushwacker. Going to be a challenge to build when I remove those XLs and go standard. Maybe throw a Chimera in there to make me super happy or a hellspawn either one. Would like to see a Templar but I don't think it will be in this game...so sad. I feel that Piranha should just let me have my crappy mechs like the hellspawn or the chimera and hold the Mad Cat Mk.II for next year :D. I watch the podcasts on twitch Russ I know what you want in the game. :P (I can read your mind...just kidding)

Argus would be a good add too but I'm guessing too far into the future. I've learned to like the viper and the nova (1 nova that is that I customized extremely). But keep the mechs coming and I keep my wallet open to Mechwarrior Online. We are getting there guys and gals!!

Probably the worst mech design I've seen come out thus far. That head looks awful.

Hehe like I said. PGI is loading a pistol and aiming it at their foot. ED may be a better mechanic (it ISN'T but that's arguable) but it'll just hurt the game.

Some Legends say if you see a player with the "The Nocturnal" title and Collectors Badge in your game you are going to die 7 minutes later.

Is that before or after energy draw?

Try here

Also;

Quote

EXTERNAL HEAT TRANSFER QUIRK
To account for their use of Laser Heat Sinks in BattleTech lore, all Night Gyr variants possess a -100% External Heat Transfer quirk. This causes the Night Gyr to ignore all environmental Heat effects that would normally affect the Heat state of other 'Mechs. Whereas a normal 'Mech dropping on a hot map such as Terra Therma would run at a higher base Heat depending on the number of Heat Sinks it has equipped, the Night Gyr always runs at a base Heat of 0%. Further, the Night Gyr can trudge through environmental hot spots with no penalty to its base Heat.On the other hand, the Night Gyr receives no boost to its Heat Sink efficiency on cold maps.

Not bad, I would certainly trade the weapon quirks for either some structure in the STS or some accel/decel/turn since you get such a low engine. Oh well keeps in line with the bland launches since the kodiak debacle. Better to be underwhelming and improve than to be OP and take away.

I just hope the external heat transfer quirk is not tied to 8/8 omnipods.

Have fun being outmaneuvered by any light, because it torso twist like a granmother and her amrs do not move left and right
