You know... Seeing all these new mechs with decent looking weapon geometry...
Then looking back at my Trebuchets, Centurions, etc...

Gosh...
I hope you guys decide to make another geometry pass on them.
yeah, the old VCR's are so terrible compared to these new weapons.

After looking at the sarna entry for the N. Gyr i have realized we are lucky to get heat quirks at all, seeing as laser hs were apparently a failure.

Not a failure.

The design was a testbed for some new technologies, including the Laser Heat Sink, which was eventually phased out due to a lack of increased performance.

While computer simulations showed laser heat sinks had great promise, advances and improvements upon them were not fast enough in coming for the Warrior-castes of the Clans. Removed from front line service, the Scientist-caste continue to tinker with the technology.

Those LRM mounts are beautiful. Wish I could stick more in the arms and torsos.

Soon.... In like... 5 years. >_>

Nova Cat: Alt. Config. B Alternate Configuration B deviates from the formula of the Primary and Alternate Configurations greatly, as it is a missile boat rather than a sniper, being equipped with six LRM-15s. A pair of ER Medium Lasers provide short-range backup. BV (1.0) = 2,078[2][9]. BV (2.0) = 2,492[10]

Nah, no need to wait long if you want to stick missile in huge quantity on every body parts, just as PGI to release:

Yeah, it'll be badass for ridgehumping. The ST ballistics will be crazy for dual goosewaffle builds too.

A sad misuse of the chassis, but you could also mount a tag on the head mount and lurm from behind hills extremely effectively.

Lol thanks obvious really just not heard that term before - yeah I can't see why people are raging over this as its so space limited its painful. A lot of the hardpoints we just won't be able to use and it doesn't have enough space to add in lots of heat sinks to handle lots of energy either. See one shoot its arms off.... bye most of its heavier weapons. Think that's why they gave it stubby arms.... the lack of structure improvements will get painful.

I sort of regret my ultimate pack but vipers I enjoyed so who knows. ;)

3x UAC10 (one per side torso) with 2x ERMLas works. 6x UAC2 (3 in side torsos) with 8 tons of ammo works. 4x UAC5 (1 per side torso, 1 per arm) works. 2 Gauss Rifles (1 per arm), 1 LPlas, 3 ERMlas works.

But if you wanted energy, this is the wrong mech to look at. This is a Clan heavy dakkawagon. :D

Arm weapons are fine, because:

1) If someone targets your arms, and does enough damage to destroy one, they could have taken that side torso (which would ALSO have destroyed the arm). You're better off, and lost less weapons
2) Better reach with arm weapons, even if only vertically in the case of the Night Gyr

"Arms getting shot off" is never a problem.

But yeah, not packing torso Gauss is a limitation, but it's not one that makes it weaker. I'll almost certainly run dual 10's in the torsos, and go from there - I'm a huge fan of 2xUAC10's. Whether I'd run 3 10's depends wholly on the heat system - current ghost heat, nope... ED? Don't know the specifics yet, or even if it'll happen.

Probably go 4xUAC5, or 2xUAC10+other stuff, or 3xUAC3 in the LA and maybe lurms, or some such random stuff.

Ghost heat and energy draw don't like 3UAC10 that much. I think you are better off with 4x UAC5s, and you can actually do 1 per side torso and 2 in an arm, although maybe the chassis quirks will be worth not breaking up the variant with 4 ballistic hardpoints standard...

Also, Dual Gauss + ER PPC works as well! 2 cLPLs/3cERMLs with Gauss works as well, but only 17or 18 DHS so that one will be toasty.

It's 6 slots in the 3B Left Arm. 12 arm slots - 2 for shoulder/upper arm - 2 for FF = 8 slots.

3xUAC2 = 6 slots.

And hell, 3xUAC2 is the stock loadout in that arm!

Oh, you said 3x UAC3 and for some reason I read that as 3 UAC5
