I think they should bring macros into the game client. Because it feels stupid that when i drive my 100ton robot with lasers, i have to bring my own program for firering my cannons at the pace that i want....

The fact people actually feel the need to use macros of any kind to gain a perceived advantage of any sort displays lack of customization within the game itself.

Macros of any kind should not be needed, all of the functions for enjoyable game play should be built into the game itself.

With that said macros of any kind should not be allowed in any sort of competitive game, ever.

After imparting the knowledge that macros don't give you any advantage and chainfiring puts you at a disadvantage, I'd like to ask you why you think this is a good idea.

macro's do give you an advantage, the constant screen shake and explosions make up for any reduction in dps.

flame all you like but macro users are cheats in my books.

It's not like we're looking for your approval anyways.

Pro Tip: find cover, and use fire and fade attacks. Their DPS only works if you allow them to hit you over the course of time.

Or.... they make it so chainfiring is inherently a good thing instead of the garbage that it currently is.

'cos dakkadakka is fun.. You can tell the exact moment people sh!t themselves with screen-shake.

I have a mouse with 9 buttons on it. Overkill in most situations, but in MWO having the ability to bind 4-5 weapon groups to one hand means I don't have to use keyboard for anything but steering. I can quite effectively set up a gatling chainfire of ACs by binding three different groups. Plus I can alpha whenever I want. Does this mean I can't use my mouse?

Hell, any build that uses a UAC5 and AC5 (for IS) in the same weapon group can do a similar thing, albeit slower. If I don't jam on my Zeus I can fire staggered shots downrange for days and that's on a single mouse button.

I won't lie, I have a couple 6x AC2 builds. They are good at two things: suppressing fire and critting internals. The amount of face time needed to strip armor is higher than almost any other build I've played except maybe the 8xCERLL Dire Wolf. The three mechs that can run such a build (Dire Wolf, Mauler, King Crab) are slow and have low enough weapon mounts that they need to expose 30-60% of the mech to fire everything. Not to mention you have zero backup weapons because you need all the heatsinks and ammo you can manage to sustain the build.

To counter such a build, don't expose yourself for long periods of time. The screenshake only affects what you see, not the actual location of your crosshair. Find your target, isolate a torso, fire, fall back.

Alternately, stack the odds. The "gatling gun" build works by focusing a single target down but has trouble splitting fire. Tank the damage for a friend, or throw a friend under the bus, and go to town.

Or better yet, throw a NARC/UAV on the *******. Facetime means standing in the open which is an invitation to get LRMed into ******* oblivion.

The use of AC macros should be illegal in the terms and conditions. While it is theoretically possible to run my finger along the 1-6 keys fast, it is not possible to do that and AIM the weapon. So anyone that is having a continual stream of AC shots that is designed to avoid the ghost heat and accelerate firing should be banned from the game for a period of time.

I don't quite understand your point here.
My mouse is used to aim and is controlled by my right hand.
My keyboard is used to press 1-6 and is controlled by my left hand.
In what way is it not possible to do that and aim the weapon?

PGI could start by fixing joystick support.

OP complains about AC macro's being over-powered...
OP wants all macros banned because "cheating"...
OP doesn't realize that AC macro's are objectively worse than alpha strikes...
...
...
...
...
You know we just do it because it's cool, right?

The DPS is exactly the same... The heat is exactly the same... Positioning is worse because you have to stay out of cover to keep shooting... Screen-shake only hurts the aim of people who don't realize that the aim reticule doesn't move, just the camera...

Listen op... If you're gettin dakka'd to death by streams of ACs, first make sure it's not a Kodiak because that's not a macro that's just how their alphas work. Then, DON'T FREAK OUT when gettin hit by the stream of dakka. Aim back at the guy and hit him, while re-positioning yourself to get back behind cover. He WILL have the worse position because he NEEDS to stay exposed to keep shooting.

Want to know something Ironic, I ran macros for a while with Gauss PPC and with AC's. I was testing them for about 2 months., never once did I get called out for using Macros. I have not used them since and have been called out for using macros when I don't use them anymore. It has happened when firing gauss PPC and AC's. With AC's I setup 2 weapons groups that are group fire and 2 weapons groups that are chain fire and button mash the hell out of them with my gaming mouse, it gets a nice rhythm going.

I guess some people have already figured out that whining loudly and often enough gets things changed around here. As such, they are just applying learned behavior. Posted Image

I get more frustrated with the stupidity of the idiot firing 6 AC2s in rapid succession than I do by its effectiveness, but that's just me.

lol, you think everything is cheating though and i know your ego wont let you comprehend things like this but PGI allows macros.

Keep waiting for this thing to close, like waiting on salvation.

I spent about 10 matches last night using multi AC 2 Mechs.

I was on a real Roll by the end of the night with a five-game winning streak each game consisting of multiple kills and my survival. I was using maulers, kodiaks and cyclopses.

I spent a good time chain firing them like a buzz saw. Guess what? I don't use macros. I just use all 6 of my firing groups and some clever firing grouping to make it fire like a buzzsaw without a macro.

So, please stop complaining about macros and learn to use your imagination. Everytime I see somebody complain about AC 2 macros I just laugh at them because they are completely non imaginative and they can't figure out a simple mechanic on their own.

In case you are one of those people who complains about these macros then I have a piece of advice for you.

Put three of your AC on firing group one but the other three on firing group to then put one each of them on three four five and six. Then roll your fingers across the three four five and six buttons on your keyboard followed by clicking and holding your left and right mouse buttons.

There you go. No macro. Now stop complaining about macros. Otherwise I'll have to chew through you with my AC 2's and my keyboard and office mouse. Yes an office Mouse with no Advance buttons; just two clickers and scroll wheel.
