Chill guys, the changes are gonna be unveiled at mechcon, and their is plenty of work to be done.

Calm down Russ, just log onto your PGI account. We all know you want to unveil your next great opus in another powerpoint presentation. Let me guess, you want me to hang in there for another 90 days and let me know what the next mech pack is. Maybe the new people will believe you. Your bittervets have been here too long and know your plan.

The Op didn't make this thread, and you don't have to come to every thread an repeat the same thing over and over. We get it already.

The op asked how you guys felt about the roundtable. Jeez what are these moderators doing? can't we ever have ontopic-actual constructive threads anymore?

Well at least I've reduced you to covering your ears and shouting really loudly. You can't demonstrate that this game is in good hands and that tons of opportunity hasn't been squandered.

I play other F2P games and thus can compare them to MWO. MWO lags far behind in pretty much every area: community interaction, patching, balance, and features. And the sad part is they've been out almost 2 years more than the other games.

You may like the game as it is now, but that doesn't mean I have to not be disappointed in what it could have been if someone else had the keys. MWO is glorified 12 on 12 deathmatch, and nothing more. And that was fine for Beta 3 years ago. But here we are.

Your devotion to defending a cause is admirable. But PGI doesn't deserve your devotion.

you talking about Elite? And what other games?, and no I don't have a devotion to PGI. Sorry I don't share you're brain

monthly patches aren't bad. The community interaction could be better, can't argue there. The balance is subjective, and I am not about to match your ideas with someone else's. I take you don't like ED, but ED is always ahead in every poll.

As far as FW goes, it needs a ton of work, and that's what they are doing the roundables, where they are talking to some players about better ideas. So it's also a bit disingenuous to them, the ones working to make a better experience as well

Theyve taught pretty much everyone else that much. Even Heffay's stopped defending them, and he was as big a knight as blood

Wargaming, for example, has managed to make a game with more depth than MWO with World of Warships in under a year. A year.

Why? Because they don't try to reinvent the wheel. They don't spend 95% of their resources on inane balance issues. They don't attempt to balance with a sledgehammer, they do it with minor adjustments. They embrace community mods and make them part of the game. They interact with their community on a level far above state-sponsored media: they're open about statistics and problems. They make events a daily part of the game. They know how to manage player numbers so everyone doesn't drop into the same class of vehicle causing wait times to skyrocket.

And why? Because they have experience with games before that one, and because they use common sense. PGI does not have experience with real games prior to this one, they clearly don't think things through (see Buddah's timeline), and their passion for this game is highly questionable. It seems more of a chore to them than a pet project.

So yes, with all the examples of other game companies doing things right, PGI appears to be the one on the Island, refusing to do what works for other companies until they have no other choice. These people have had 4-5 years to earn my respect, and they've slowly lost it.

I, for one, am optimistic but not hopeful.

I fully understand that the bucket thing is a stop-gap. PGI needs to address player hemmorage and making what little exists of the mode working at even limited levels. I get that, and I support it. So I'm willing to slog through the new "bucket" era on our way to some place better. QP with dropships should finally make those modes work properly, and putting them into FP where they can count for something... these are both things I've fully supported for a looooooong time.

But I'll reiterate my first line now... I am optimistic but not hopeful. Far too often in MWO have the stop-gaps become the new and permanent norm. As someone noted above, FP has a disease, and it's yet to be addressed. I recognize the need to stop the bleeding first, but I fear that the promise of something awesome to come after all that will turn out like most every one of PGI's other promises.

And that's my issue. Leaving the stopgap in place means permanently removing factions, which sucks the lifeblood out of MechWarrior. And I'm not convinced based on Russ's podcasts that there are plans to significantly expand CW so that they obtain the player population to REIMPLEMENT factions.

IE the stopgap ends up becoming the solution. like every single other band aid fix theyve ever tried in this game
