So, I earned this mech through the current event, but now I am wondering: should I keep it?

I am torn in my thoughts here. Part of me says "don't sell any mech." But the other part says "this mech is awful and I would have to sink $$$ c-bills into it just to make it usable."

Seriously, looking at it last night I figured I would have to buy at least one, but more likely two or three omni-pods just to get a decent set of hard points. That would be almost 1.5 million C-Bills. Yes, I know that isn't that much, but to drop that many C-Bills on a clan mech just to make is usable seems like a bad idea. I mean, 1) I am not even sure I want any other Executioners and 2) if I am going to drop that much on it, why not just buy a better chassis? But, then, I go back to thinking "well, don't even sell and mech" and "you earned that" so it is like selling some award.

I don't know. I am leaning toward selling it because it is pretty crappy, but wanted to see if anyone had any ideas for making it less crappy without sinking a ton of C-Bills into it. What do you think about the Executioners in general? Are they worth it?

Cheers!

thing about omnis is once mastered, you can sell it and keep the omnipods of all the varients you leveled (and buy those of the others). then pick the one chassis with the best ct hardpoints and/or quirks. i quickly gained one mastered mech of every clan omni this way, constantly recycling the sale money back into new omnis. all with the bare minimum of mech bays.

im going to at least master mine. im probibly going to sell it or the other one i own, which is already mastered, whichever is worse. i still like gargles better, but at least this one has some pod space that you can use for heavy weaponry. i kept the uac20 and swapped the missile arm out for some medium lasers. i ran it once and its not terrible.

They can be fun if you want something different. They certainly arent "meta" or optimal in any way but its just the nature of things. So its up to you. If you want to to be in the best mechs then no its not good

You can't sell it because its a specialty loyalty variant. It gives 30% extra cbills a match and all that.

Also Executioner is a great mech, it just plays a bit differently than normal assault mechs. You have MASC on the thing which allows it to peek like a god, especially corner peeking rather than hill humping, especially with that arm loaded with up to 7 lasers and 2 energy hardpoints in that side's torso.

You have a variety of great builds for it.

6 ERML + gauss
12 SPL + ERLL (ERLL is really just there to fill up some free tonnage but hey, its a gun)
6 SPL + 2 LPL
6 SPL + UAC20

Its a great brawler that can move very fast to get into and out of fights and turn quickly to track targets, also at 95 tons it has quite a bit of protection. It also has 3 high mounted hardpoints in the torso to further take advantage of the MASC.

Pretty sure he's talking about the one that came from the event. It's not a special variant but the standard version that's so far I my out for MC. I sold the one I got (because I have the loyalty version).

I had no expectations for the executioner, except people claiming it was bad because fixed jumpjets and masc. I soon noticed that I wouldn't remove them even if I could. It's just so... manouverable, you get to fights faster and can escape situations you would have died otherwise without masc and jumpjets.

Only real complaint I have is that for it to be top tier it really needs 1 more high energy hardpoint for left torso energy omnipod and one omnipod which gives ballistics to left torso.

It's my first clan assault and I'm very positively surprised as it's joy to play. I have mastered atlas, king crab, banshee, battlemaster and mauler but executioner is a completely new experience. Will propably buy Mr Gargles next for new experiences.

Oh yeah, forgot it was the reward variant for this event. That said, I still stand by it as a pretty good mech with the right omnipods.

Pro tip: Mix up your omnipods! If one set of variants is no good, all you gotta do is look at what the other pods have to offer.

I recommend loading it out for medium to close range fights, its speed is unmatched in the Assault landscape, so you gotta use that since you don't have the weapons tonnage of other Assaults. Also, since there's a lot of built-in double heat sinks, make use of those energy hard points!

Ultimately, it's really better to think of it as a Heavy mech with a lot more armor Posted Image

well don't sell any free Mechs

I wish I would kept the free Raven and the free Warhawk and Victor (Man the Victor sucks)

the EXE is like the most expensive Mech in the game and is pretty cool Mech

I agree. I enjoy it quite a bit. But I already had all five and I need Mechbays. :)

1.5 million cbills is nothing, that is 3 good matches or maybe 5 or 6 decent ones. You can make that much in an hour or less easily, so if you think the mech isn't worth an hour to get good omnipods you probably won't enjoy it. I would just ignore it and come back to it when bored and cbills are not a limiting factor.

I wouldn't sell it unless you've already got three. If you don't have three, that gets you one step closer to mastering them.

CBills are monopoly money. Giving enough time, you will earn enough to do whatever you want in this game.

Also, you never know what PGI might do in some future patch. They might give it super quirks someday.... and a little cape with an "S" on it to fly around the map with.

Once you add the speed tweak, it is a 95-ton assault that moves 70kph and has jumpjets. It moves 90kph with MASC engaged, and has some decent agility quirks. Loadout tonnage is limited due to all the locked equipment, but it still has good build options.

I tend to alternate between 6 ER Med / Gauss and 6 SPL / UAC20 when I use it. Keep in mind that it is very much a hit and run or supporting assault Mech. Unlike other assaults, the MASC can bail you out when you find yourself in a bad position.

The MASC is also excellent for getting in and out of pokes quickly. I run massive laser vomit (2LPL/5ML) and it pokes very deftly thanks to MASC.

Executioners are awesome. But they require you to push their limits and play offensively.

Indeed. I use that same loadout with it if I am playing in the group queue. With the agility quirks and speed that they have, I find both the Executioner and Gargoyle to be a lot of fun. I hated Clan assaults until I forced myself to learn how to play with the Executioner. After that, I enjoyed the grind of mastering it.

It doesn't play like an assault,, It plays like a heavily armored heavy.. In that roll it is lots of fun, but like every mech, you need to spend money to customize it how you want.

This:

is my favourite assault brawler, a lot of fun to play.

Shame Energy Draw will **** it in the *** with no lube.

Actually most assaults will be victims of that alpha limit, I'll miss my 90 alpha damage surprise atlas.
