Could the audio for Inner Sphere weapons be any worse? Lasers, auto cannons everything.

I think weapon audio in general is pretty bad, in this game.
The only weapons that have even remotely decent sounds would probably be LBX autocannons and maybe the IS AC20.

Gauss is the worst, in my opinion. *Kchuuuu* *Pfew*

I also, really dislike the sound of PPCs. I think they should be more like loud thunder cracks

I don't think even the novels mentioned anything about laser sound.

Freako's mod added lightning strike sounds to the ER PPC in MechWarrior 3. If a solo MechWarrior 3 player could do it then PGI can make better sounds.

Yea the AC sounds like a Drum or Bucket everytime I heard it.

The sounds from MW2 are superior than MWO. I always prefer MW2 Computer Voices.

The audio in MWO desperately needs updated, audio in WoWs is one of that games best features and i froth at the mouth when i think about that level of audio for MWO.

PPC sounds are the worst, IMO.
Clan Streaks are also molesting my ears.
AC2s and AC5s were such a huge disappointment, it sounds like someone banging an empty oil drum.
Small lasers sound like tiny tweety birds instead of 500 kg weapons.

One of the sad parts of watching old 2012-2013 era MWO videos is that so many sounds were better.

High powered Lasers would either create, like PPCs, a kind of inithial thunderclap and then a sizzeling humming sound, or just a sizzeling humm. Depends on the air getting heated up or not.
The weapon itself would make only the sounds of its electrical (if its an electrical driven solid state or gaseous state Laser) and cooling components. If its a plasma laser it would make a distinctive cracking and sizzling sound.

Remember that the real weapon weights are far lower that the mounting weight of the weapon on a Mech or Tank.
2/3 or of the weapons weight is power system, cooling and stearing gear.

Edit: ok just forget that IS Battletech lasers are free electron lasers. So you would definetly hear the sound of the working magnets in and outside the mech. Could be a screeming whine ore something.

You know that there are several soundmods out there for MWO?
And PGI permits the use of them. So go a head and change the sound to something you like :)

(e.g. the MW2 Soundmod. Just google "Beer Warriors MW 2 Soundmod").

I remember seeing a german sound mod, one with british accent and so on. Installation is very easy and can be deleted anytime.
You can even decide which sounds you want to change (only weapons sounds, only Betty, foot steps,...)

The old Ac20 sounded cool, better than the current one. Kinda like the CLbx20.

Of course they'd rather have us use their own soundfiles, but they said it be ok to use a sound mod (as long as the mod only overwrites soundfiles and doesn't give any advantage above the standard soundfiles)

I really really like closed beta sound effects, I also agree all the sounds need to be upgraded, from the engine sounds , foot steps , impact , across all weapons and more far more.

I like the ultra cannons, they shold sound like an auto rifle, and the auto cannons should sound like a loud pop, pop, and rockets should hiss leaving the tubes.. lasers, not so sure how they should sound
