So i was looking at Smurphy, and i was stumped to see that Jump Jets Class 5, has 90t - 200t, I'm honestly surprised to know that there are 200-ton mechs that existed cannonically.

So, looking at Sarna.net, apparently there is this Super-Heavy Battlemechs, and there is apparently, 110t, 125t, 135t, 150t, and 200t battlemechs, WTF.

Matar - 110t
Poseidon - 125t
Ares - 135t
Omega - 150t
Orca - 200t

Personally, i would really really really like to have Super-Heavy mechs, with that sheer firepower and all, and Matar is practically within the scope of the game, if allowed to be functional at all. Puts Dire Wolf to shame, but realistically it's going to be a pain to balance isnt' it?

What are your thoughts?

Here's mine, although that is assuming the rest is up for grabs.

1.) What if it takes a Unit of 10, to own a single Superheavy Mech as their "Totem Mech" in a sense? It's only usable as a drop with only specific game modes, acting like a super-weapon when trying to take-over.

2.) Or what if, MWO has some sort of collaborative story-mode, and superheavies act as non-player objectives. It's sad to not be able to use them, ever, but i guess it could fit like that, without being a total pain in balancing.

100 ton limit in this game is enough for me, thank you.
PGI has enough trouble trying to balance mechs from 25-100 tons, double the top end, and how well do you think it would play out?

With speeds running the range of 1/2-3/5, not much. The match would be over before they got to engage.

Yep. They would be turrets. How to balance a 200 ton, essentially immobile turret to a Kodiak? PGI would undoubtedly come up with...something...to make them "balanced".

The game is too fat now really. Lighter and faster makes a more interesting and skill based game IMO.

The Matar never became reality. Its regular Clan second line successor is the 100T Stone Rhino.

All other designs are between 20 and 80 years in the Future. Only two of them has realy been produced in numbers to speak of and those chassis are a Tripod design.

There is absolutely no chance to see one of them in MWO, even if you ignore the timeline issue Russ stated there will never be a non bipedal mech in game.
They also use Weapons (TSEMP - Cannon, Improved Heavy Gauss, mixtech) not implemented in MWO. Again a reason to not implement the design.

Also as some stated above there is no chance on the battlefield of MWO for one of those designs since their main advantages, high armor values and no movementpoint efford for turns or curves, are neutralized by the faulty design of MWO.

It's interesting because no MechWarrior game has yet to have superheavies. I'm curious as to why this is...

I would imagine it is because, in the lore, they are seldom used and (I would expect) to be utilized as a form of mobile defense/support.

Truthfully, I don't see much of a use to putting them in MWO. There are far more pressing concerns...

Would be suitable for MechCommander III or even the upcoming Battletech game.

Things I would rather see before Super Heavies.

1- Fix Faction Warfare (Yeah no explanation needed.)
2- Fix Solo and Group Cue (Still getting a lot of 12 - 0 stomps)
3- Bring in Solaris with a true leader board. (You win you move up you die you move down.)
4- Quad Mechs ... yeah they should be in the game.
5- Melee ... where is my hatchetman?

Now you just being silly :P

Think about it. How fast would you get across the map at that size? 1 Medium laser can kill you? And you are only good when you are ON the enemy mech? On top of that when you are on the enemy mech another mech can shoot you off. Friend or Foe and we all know friendly fire happens a lot in this game :P

PGI can't even provide reliable hitreg on Light Mechs. Elementals would be a disaster.

It would be the best experience I ever had in this game knowing I would troll my team and the enemy team when I jump on someone and make them panicPosted Image

If arty was dropped on elementals they are so small they would never make it out of the arty zone. Then when they hit well ... game over man, GAME OVER!
