The majority of forum warriors have finally realized that light mechs are underpowered, after three years of flame wars in this forum.

It doesn't ultimately matter, because PGI doesn't care about any kind of player consensus unless it comes from NGNG (with a few notable exceptions, but still). But at least we don't have to keep trying to convince assault mech players that the Commando isn't OP.

See all of the above.

Now consider: heavy drivers will point to the Panther and say it is the most heavily quirked mech in the game and you want more quirks to make it playable?

YES!!!!!!

I just want its old size back. Honestly, lights were in a much better place before the embiggening. A bit weak, but with way more variety and options. That and the skill tree nerf hurt a lot more than quirks especially for 35 tonners. Dat bloat.

To many bad players can't hit lights, and they cry here about OP light plz nerf! which is why lights get for the most part bad quirks.

A few don't need them, Firestarter, Arctic Cheetah, I'll add the JennerII because of its engine.

IS Jenner and possibly the Raven, Panther, Wolfhound could do with a slight tweek. structure only.

The Myst Lynx, Spider, and Commando need major buffs. across the board.

I'm neutral over the Locust, I haven't played mine for over a year, but I think it's perceived as an OP mech simply because people can't hit them, and won't admit they're bad, and blame the mech for their inability.

I've found an Ac20 hit really ruins a Locusts outlook on life, buffed or not.

The real answer to your question is that the dumb fatty pilots can't stand it when something that weighs 80 tons less than them tears their face off so every time a light 'mech becomes combat viable they cry rivers at Russ and Paul claiming lights to be OP until they get nerfed. Again. And again. And again. As long as lights keep managing to kill lone assault 'mechs that think teamwork is for chumps lights will keep getting the hammer.

The funny thing is that the people who complain the most often refuse to listen to suggestions on how to deal with lights. I guess its easier just to whine rather than get better.

Look guys, putting a torso twist speed quirk on the STD60 engine would literally and metaphysically break this game, so don't mention it or even think it unless you want pugservers full of stock urbanmechs...

I play a mean Light.

I still love my first mech, Quickman, a Spider 5K running 4MG's a lot more ammo and a M Pulse Lazer. I'll get in and obliterate people.
I play my Anansi thought it's a bit weak, but still manage great damage at times, for a light.
I play my Huginn, as no matter what I will always love my White Death. Oh the times we've had. that ol' girl will never tire.
and I play my Spider 5K, Crit Fox, Scout Cheetah, all with ECM 1ERPPC and either a targetting comp or a Tag lazer. as even in those I'm constantly firing chip shots cross map and turning my enemies around.

I scout in them, fighting and skirmishing before the battle begins. I scatter teams, or turn them away from the firing line and bare down upon their armor. I hold targets, most entirely unaware what or who is locking them, tortured by the LRM warning and sheer paranoia of battle. I drop accurate artillery strikes, scatter teams, ruin pushes, and make legs turn red before the mediums get to the fight. Why? because I'm "Scouting"

I am a Haunt. And in truth, at the end of the day, that scout plinking armor is still just a scout. 2 good hits and it's gone. making them is the challenge. but that challenge is easier that making the shots I have to make. being able to fire from enemy lines consistantly and break their ranks. it takes a lot of skill, and even some good luck to math the distance between me and the target, consider my Target Comp, fire, hit, and hide to avoid detection. the reward for that level of scouting is 10 damage and a scared mech. Why do I do it? well 1, because thats my version of scouting, and 2, because its fun.
