In case of the Xanthos, a little stretch wouldn't be horrible. And I wasn't necessarily talking about mechs available in 3049, just before the 3060s. My bad for the lack of clarity in my post.

I see all of those advantages transfering over. Stabilty, which would result in better accuracy whilst aiming, makes sense. Hard to topple makes sense as it would suffer little-to-no knockback from enemy weapons, and of course side stepping.

I would definitely pilot a Scorpion and/or a Goliath. I think that down the road they would be an interesting and valuable tactical asset and just fun to pilot.

Goliath: Introduced 2652, viable, rare until 3060s.
Scorpion:Introduced 2570, still viable.
Snow Fox: Introduced 3015, Clan design, not available in IS prior to invasion.
Xanthos: Introduced 2564, extinct by the start of the 2nd Succession war (2830), rediscovered in 3070s, so out of theme.
All that said, there is a nice list of quads, but you have to be careful. The Sirocco was introduced in 3059, for example. Got 10 years to wait on that one. The Tarantual was listed in the 3055 Tech Readout, so not likely, and so on. Still would be interested in seeing them fielded, if possible. Sometime down the line.

Legging them would prove difficult seeing as
a.) They Move pretty quickly (Think about legging a light...)
b.) The legs are GENERALLY low profile
c.) The legs are slender in some cases (Adding to the low profile idea)
d.) The legs are usually pretty heavily armored because of the fact they would be very less effective without even one leg.
a) They don't if they are heavy/assault class.

c) Again depends on weight of the design.
d) THERE is a real advantage. Having the same armor as a torso makes for some chunky lovin'.
