Hello there mech fans!
I've recently been digging through some old battletech material in preparation for a game with mates and came across an old favourite of mine, a custom mech dubbed the Bruiser.
Built way back its one of those designs that sit right next to the classics in terms of tech and design sense, having a ton of ammo in each torso section before the days of CASE. Nevertheless it was a mech I got attached to, always bringing it out when I had the chance despite not having an appropriate mini and sorely lacking in draw/sketch skills to properly convey my envisioned ride.
But now I have a chance to rectify that. If a talented artist amongst you could aid me in depicting this glorious wreck I'd be extremely grateful!
For those interested, it was built as such:
Bruiser BRS-8H
IS 50 tonner, 2025 tech
200 rated engine, 16 heatsinks, 8 tons armor
Two large lasers (one in each arm)
One LRM 5 (right torso, 1 ton ammo)
One SRM 4 (left torso, 1 ton ammo)
Two machine guns (one in each side torso, 1 ton ammo in CT)
The most common variants were the 8R model that swapped the SRM 4 for another LRM 5 and the 8S that did the opposite. The original Star League era version also existed designated the 6H, using DHS and FF to fit ERLLs and JJs with some more armor.
I always imagined it as a catapult or cicada sort of body mixed with a bit of crab or bushwacker, with reverse legs and full arms like a hunchback or griffin, featuring full hands/fists that could be used in melee. It was decidedly odd-looking, with the large lasers placed on the forearms and the missile racks sitting atop the torso not unlike a king crab. The MGs sit snugly underneath like a catapult's lasers, with a nose but not one that makes the torso elongated.
Would anybody be interested in trying to sketch this up by any chance?

My friend, the highest of kudos and the majority of my internet cookie collection to you!
At last the Bruiser has a face.

Glad I could help!
Though I think a fully black/white version of the drawing might go better with the TR sheet, I could do that if you want.

Well, it looks extra sad next to Hornet's great art but here's my thoughts. Haha, traditional art is not my strong suit...

I can totally see your concept though. Very interesting twist, definitely a Crab cousin, I like.

To be honest anything from here is just gravy, I didn't come in expecting more then one or two replies.
TygerLily, that's the kind of silhouette I originally envisioned, there's no reason to feel discouraged!

I actually had several custom mech designs that I've wanted to make art for. Now I feel inspired to draw the 20 ton Scoundrel, and the 50 ton Huntress.

Please do! I'd like to see them.
