Dragons fury was OP. Kurita was the best by far. Spirit cats was tough to use, my favs were Stormhammers Posted Image

Although their mechs were pretty squishy and easy to hit.. Their most OP combo was a transport vehicle with the 5 damage, armor piercing targeting computer tank inside of it. (I forgot the name of it.. was it the Devastator?..) No one saw that combo coming.

People think these units are worthless now, and the common ones really are but some still sell for $10 each up to $30. and the super rare stuff still fetches a pretty good price.

Not really. Not that I know of. EvilBay should give you an idea. Anything with a non-black base has at least some value normally. Anything that was a prize. Any of the pins.

This is a decent metric.. if you feel like doing a lot of scrolling down and next-paging.

D1 Schmitt Tank, lesser range but 11 IT made it dangerous even in AOD...there was little thing called SC/DF alliance card.

But for mech, two really stand out : allmighty Jupiter of Jack Farrell and Geoff Bekkers Kodiak (Counterattack was one of better sets), Sadia Wolf in her Catapult was a blast to with double berserk dial.

I was really pissed off when Steiners didnt get Zeus on second pass.
Nova cats ware all golden and Shadow Cats ware just what you expect them to be..(only fielded by Nova cats).

Of new designs i really liked quads, Thunder Fox, Ursa, Xanthos (Chikako under Bensons flag).
Yeap, i still got my minutures.

The Bannson's Raiders Shadowcat, from the first set, was sooo damn huge.

I never really liked the quads in MW:DA.

I honestly had a lot more fun playing before they released transports, artillery and VTOLs.

I remember when Jack Farrell was the hardest unit to find out there. For a mail in that was basically free he was hard to find and a super tough unit to take down even today.
Thats one of the sculpts I would love to see MWO try to tweek up. I always cut away the step bars on that unit to clean in up but I think an artist could have some serious fun with that unit.

Ahh, I miss this game. Got my box of minis back home somewhere, I imagine. Not sure how I lost track of it in the move, kinda sucks...

Best army I had was three CNC Vixens with various 2/2/1 pilots and I.T. and assorted basers to taste to get up to 600 even a'course. Usually at least one Sylph BA piece to make VC3 runs or harass artillery while the other units dismantled the other guy's fighting piece. The venue I played at was thronged with players who all usually focused their armies on their favorite single massive piece; nobody ever really figured out how to deal with an army that had three different, equally dangerous killing units in it that all moved significantly faster/further than their big fatbro assault guy.

Excessive artillery? Detail off a Vixen to deal with it, pound the gun into wreckage, and also be in position for VC3 while I was at it. Plus it's kinda hard to pin down an army of light 'Mechs with pogs.

Some big Streak muthah hiding behind hard cover? Charge it three separate times with three separate Vixens, usually hit at least once, and then the thing is faced with a bunch of angry cats swarming it.

VTOLs/tankdrop combos? Yeah - my Vixens can hit a lot harder than your choppers, and I can afford to lose the first one or even the second one and still have enough firepower to punch out whatever you're using to try and win the match with.

So often I'd just hang one of the little suckers out as bait, and even though the other guy knew he was going to get jumped on by the other two as soon as he AO'd out of cover to try and punch out the first Vixen, he didn't really have any choice but to do it anyways.

Would change it up sometimes with some R.I.S.C. gear; had an absolute smackton of it after winning a "Write a tournament for us!" prize pack from Wizkids (remember that "I Smell a Swamp Rat" tournament with the traitor 'Mech that everyone hated? You're welcome for that one!) that mostly consisted of about fifty different tournament-prize gear cards and alternate pilots. I had R.I.S.C. stuff exploding from my ears for a bit. There were a few times people'd basically forfeit as soon as they sat across the table from me and saw I was using the Advanced Pulse cards on all three Vixens. Had to put them down for a while just to get proper games.

All faction-legal, a'course. Some people yelled at me for mixing up Dragon's Fury, Spirit Cats, Draconis Combine and Clan Nova Cat in one army, but c'mon. C'mon. Dragon's Fury and Spirit Cats were officially absorbed by the parent factions, and both the fluff and the rules called out that an alliance between Nova Cats and the Combine was both proper and legal. Not my fault the last two allied factions in the game happened to be my favorite ones, and also ones that complemented each other well! Step up yo' game, bruh. And stop relying on single fatbros you know I'ma pull down with two good PPC Cap whacks from the Li'l White Devils. Invest in some basers, stop trying to drown me in pogs when you know it doesn't work, and vary up your hitting power a bit.

Or play that Ridicu-Busted Dire Wolf they released towards the end of the game's lifecycle. I cannot for the life of me remember its name right off the bat...the "I'M COMING FOR YA, MURDOCH!" bastiche that ran over everything in its path pretty much without fail. Thaaaat thing took some doing to properly deal with, no matter what you brought to the table...

Man, I really do miss this game. I ought to see if I can find my old miniatures and at least display them like the proud old war vets they (sorta) are. Rebuild that Li'l White Devils army in parade formation on my collectibles shelf, remind me of good ol' times.

HAHA YES! my all time favorite unit Refuge Daishi. with Marc-Andre Leblanc as the pilot. Who also happens to I believe play this game as well. He was a wrecking ball and so hard to hit. Put Decoy on him and he is devastating and could run without heat.

I really wish MWOnline allowed melee, I used to run games using three melee "Bucket mechs" and while people laughed at me, I trashed them completely, normally 2/3 bucketmechs would survive hitting people with dumpster smacks and dumping dirt on their dead carcasses Posted Image

I started playing when AoD released, and one of my favourite gimmick teams for 600 point tournaments was what I called Mongoose Love. The dragon's fury, CJF, Spirit Cats and bannson versions together with pilots, gear and I think one peasant
company totalled 600 exactly. At close ranges and melee...they could wreck a 300 point assault in one round.

Let's see, CJF with the Light star commander and rapid strike gear 143 pts, 12 attack, 20 defence, 10 speed evade, 2 melee, 2 energy and it still had its faction abilities. Bannson's with the Lieutenant light pilot and improved targeting gear 148 pts, 11 attack, 20 defence, 11 speed evade, 2 rapid strike melee, 2 energy. Dragon's Fury with evade gear and Minoru Kurita University grad pilot for 158 pts. 11 attack, 20 defence heavy, 2 agility melee, 2 TSEMP energy, 12 speed. Spirit Cat with Focht war college grad pilot & Imp Target gear for 140 pts. 10 attack, 11 speed evade, 20 defence, 1 HTH melee, 2 pulse energy. Total 589. Add an 11 pt infantry unit of spirit or fury faction (as they had that faction alliance, it got them over the half-way faction pure requirement of tournament builds). Run a true-grit card, and the heavy fog, dust storm, magnetic deposits cards in your deck.

While I love the assault mechs and I normally pilot them in this game regardless of how well I play or not. I agree that in DA/AOD they were not ideal for forming an army around. Most 500-600 point armies that had a 300 point unit were not effective. being able to hit and hit fast with multiple units is key.

I found it more effective to use Heavy and Assault Armor in those roles, TBH. Had a Mars Assault tank in particular that was nasty as heck, which I remembered which faction/etc... but it was often the "spine" of my units, with Lighter, More Versatile Mechs instead. Also Morgans, Schmitts, etc.

I don't think I used mechs above 65 tons all that often, TBH, though I collected a lot for sculpts, and for "flavor" did use a Nova Cat as the base for a unit (love that mech)

*edit* Ah, found it!!!!
http://www.warrenbor...nit.php?ID=L132
DeBorah McDermott (Mars Assault Tank) RotS. Was an absolute beast, IMO. 22 rating of Hardened Armor was awesome. Wasn't fancy, but it didn't need to be.
And a steal at 116 pts.

I do wish my Ken Roos WHM-IIC had been worth the point cost.

Any of the tanks that had Armor Piercing were normally worth the cost. They could put a hurt on just about any unit.
The WarHammer had to be one of the most disappointing units in the game. None of them lived up to their cost and they had that goofy sqauted stance that made them look like they were taking a dump.

well, i found one with less a "stoop" and corrected it the rest of the way courtesy modeling knives, glue, pin vice and a hot air gun.

Didn't do a dang thing to fix the value, but it did look a lot better.

Yeah, the Warhammers in this game I thought looked like asscrack.....

The Summoners I wasnt that fancy about, but it was nice to have them in the game I guess.

My favorite I think was hands down the Vulture and MadCat MKIVs. They just looked drop dead sexy.
