There's nothing wrong with the KDK-3s. Since the ghost heat bug apparently wasn't fixed, and they've added debilating levels of ghost to three or more Ultra-10s firing together, you cannot actually effectively mount 4 of them anymore unless you chain fire them, and do the double taps via two seperate chain circuits. Most owners are going to quad gauss, paired ultra-10s and 5s, quad lb10s, or mixed pairs of LB and Ultra 10s. There's just more of them because they've gone to C-bills and folks are buying extra 3s in particular to try different build configurations. But to get four 10 class or four gauss requires downgrading the engine rating to find the mass to do it. I personally think for the clan calvary mech style pushes, a spirit bear which kept the masc, or a kdk-2 or 4 is a more effective choice to bring.

Yes, but you know its like with the "OMG Streak Crows in scouting" panic... It only works against you if you don't learn to adapt.

Heck, teams even figured out how to use Long Tom against its owners (return to sender) with often hilarious results.

In a PvP environment, you have to be prepared to deal with various scenarios and adapt tactics and schemes that may not always work, but can sufficiently counter ham-fisted approaches to the point that the other side has to rethink *their* tactics and it goes back and forth to the point that it no longer matters about tech superioirty, it matters about creativity with the tools you have and the discipline to execute.

i play everything, mainly IS. im not involved in the decisions where the unit goes.
but the flood of kodiak-3 is sickening and the best and fastest way to balance it is just to remove it because PGI is unable to balance it properly anyway.
FW is unplayable because of it, group queue is unplayable as well because MM puts all kdk-3's in one team and the others has none.

so just remove it.

Drama Queen much? ;)

no drama, just pretty much how it is if you dont want to play the cheese all time. ofc i could just go KDK-3 myself but its no fun to be a oneclick derper.

there is no need to 2 kdk-3s. one is already enough for a well coordinated unit. all the other variants are fine as they are but the 3 is not good for this game.

Actually PGI should remove all positive quirks from KDK-3, first. It'll be more sound plan than removing this mech from the game completely (what actually won't gonna happen anyway). More over they can apply some negative quirks as well. And voila - the mech is balanced! Posted Image

Actually I think both ways are fine. Either way, whine will be there.

all right to every one who is dissecting my posts:

Firstly i was under the impression that because the timer seemed broken that i only had 6 hours a day for this challenge. I study science for 8 hours a day. thus once my course was done, due to how i THOUGHT it would be, i would only have 1 hour a day for the challenge. Im not saying they should change it for me. i was confused as to what was going on.

Secondly my issue is sort of resolved, my scores did register after 12 hours. I still have the issue where the day timer wont function until the last few hours of the day. However i can still do the challenge.

To sum up: issue is resolved, i thought i had only 6 hours a day for the event ( i know what the event page says its just that the timer wasnt working) and because of my studies that it would leave me with only an hour a day.

Edited: the other day i was also extremely stressed as such my post was badly spelt and probably made little sense.

Only have to do one more of the daily and done for MC. I ask myself if it is worth continuing... Seems like in the last two days people have started to try to game the system. They run in at full speed, hit the alpha button a couple times and die, expecting the rest of the team to carry them and secure that KMDD. Maybe my matchmaker timer has been running too long. I don't know. Also been seeing a lot fewer of the familiar names.

anyone having issues with the scoreboard not registering the kmdd on the 7th day? Did mine around an hour ago, still didn't register.[edit] IT REGISTERED, YAY! After 1 hour and something around 2 minutes [edit]

ABOUT THE KDK-3:

Shoot the side torsos. That's how you kill it. That mech IS NOT OP. Let it be.
P.S.: Never bought one.

It's also still a 100 tonnes. It doesn't move or react as fast as smaller mechs so it can easily be taken from the back.

Look like the system/webpage take some minutes registering the KMDD, yeah each hour is updated (and if u smash your F5 key you will see a message that the webpage is down) but when appear the "checks" for each day/kmdd, still remain like 5 min to be counted in the "spreadsheet", also, the browser sometimes show the cached version, that may lead to confusion ("hey, isnt registered my kmdd", or time warping)

Do you hear that PGI? That sweet (mostly) silence? Very little complaining b/c this event is:

- overall fairly easy to accomplish
- doesn't cater to just QP/FP, IS/Clams, or one specific weight class.
- even if you have limited time during the week or on weekends, challenges are obtainable.
- you have tons of time to get all the free swag apart from the max cbills and even then you can still get a healthy chunk of it if you can play daily for an hour.
- there are short term and stretch goals so everybody can get rewards commensurate to there effort.
- the challenges are based on what *you* can do, not which mechs your opponents bring.

This is a good thing, I like it. I hope there are more such challenges in the future.

Apologies but I'm not sure what you mean there. :(

the rewards are after the event if that's what you are referring to.

All is good except the hitreg issues. Also Kodiaks are far from op, we light rushed a team with 7 KDK-3s on Sulfurous and totally wrecked them with Cicadas, Firestarters, Locusts, Jenners lol.

So my take on this event so far...

Brilliant !!

With the very limit gaming time I have at the moment, I haven't missed a single qualifier yet.

I really appreciate the length of time and the conditions and I won't feel bad if I miss a day or two (but I wont).

The queues are really nice, although I still have to play my mobile phone game before I can connect, I don't have to wait anywhere near as long as a event which is a specific weight class only.

Are people doing bats**t crazy stuff, well yes and no. Not as bad as before. Yes there's too many lrms but that comes with the game (it's YOUR job to try and counter this). I can still see the odd John Wayne rusher who gets splatted. I see the odd assault or two meander off to the end of the map for a sight seeing mission.

What always keeps me amused is seeing the dropships animate to drop off our lovely mechs, and then they hit the magic fast rewind button (only some people will have the pleasure of knowing what that is).

Overall, really enjoying this event Posted Image

p.s.

Oh and on the subject of KDK3's, I am putting out quite a number of games over 1000 damage with this mech. I am not saying the mech is broken, but it's definitely T1 in my book and my Weapon/Puggernaut of choice. I don't have any IS mechs to compare it to yet (until I start working on the Maulers).

Having some fun with this event.

Although it seems so easy, I can do it in my sleep. :P

Still, it keeps me coming back.

The problem is when I'm done my dailies, I log off and play other games. I don't really even do Faction Warfare-event isn't catered to it. :/ Neither does my team due to "daily challenge."

Great Event, Congrats to PGI this time. Everyone loves to get C-bills and MC, and this event doesn't require us to grind a thousand hours a day. I can usually get the KMDD's in 5 to 8 games, about an hour of play, maybe a bit more. It is also great that FP matches count.

It isn't that hard to get the KMDD's, Just pick a mech in each weight class that can deal a big alpha and poke the same enemy multiple times. Or do like I do, use mechs that have killer DPS and just focus an enemy down until you or he dies. Try to isolate one target and don't get focused by a group of enemies while you attack.

The key to light mech KMDD's has been sneaking up behind and backstabbing the enemy. Yeah, look for a lone wolf,or someone who got left behind or distracted and pounce. If you don't get a quick kill, stay after him and do lots of damage. If someone else finishes him off later, you still get the KMDD.

The event promotes play in all four weight classes which seems to work well with the MWO matchmaker, so queue times have been pretty quick as well. Kudos to MWO on this one.

Halfway in and still having fun, really enjoying this event.

And the fact that we collect our winnings at the same time as the loyalty rewards roll in is icing on the cake.

Thanks PGI.
