William, its gotten so bad I'm almost ashamed to call myself a gamer, and I still have fond memories of spending my childhood days in front of an NES.....probably why, actually. We need more "Nintendo hard" games.

As a further comment on the unfortunate choice of the word technobabble followed by the juxtaposition to modern action titles, what's a SCAR-H or a gewehr? Okay okay. I'm a bit of a gun and WW2 nerd too (shocking) so I already knew. And it was fun listening to buddies who had just gotten into CoD when MW2 (I meant Modern Warfare 2. Don't lynch me!) came out refer to the gewehr phonetically. "Dude! Use your goo'er!" Point is, the shooter genre is rife with its own technobabble. Just because it's been done dozens of times in dozens of titles doesn't make PPSH any more obvious to a newcomer than LRM.

Yeah, and we 'must respect his honsety'. :eyeroll: I see more 'ignorance' than anything. And I mean that disparagingly, not just in the literal "doesn't know stuff" way.

GameSpy isn't what it used to be. When I was a contributor for them they seemed to have higher standards. I had stuff better written than this mess sent back to me for revision...

Mechwarrior has always been about skilled teams and not about one player super twitch headshot insta kill glory seekers ... well mostly lol

Yep Its slower and the use of tactics , skill and knowledge as well as teamwork . The main reason I liked Mechwarrior in the first place was the team aspect of it and there is no place for players who want it to be like a counterstrike ofspring .

I have always found after a mechwarrior match if you won the opposition would say well played etc or if you lost you would say it in return not many matches ended in "you mom SUX" or other playground BS lol ..... There has always been more Respect in this game for other players in the main , A few bad examples but mostly good humoured Rivalry ....

Leave the haters to hate and lets play a great game

Hey all,

in case you didn't know, gamespy has been covering MWO since the beginning and gave it some good publicity. Unfortunately, in the last Centurion video, the editor wrote that well, the game looks boring to play and might not last long in a world filled with twitch shooters and competitive MOBA games.

Maybe PGI should do some more marketing to adress the fear of some would-be new players?

I love the fact that they had a writer write about a game type he's never played before. There is a reason why newspapers have sections and beat writers, write about what you know, and work your way into areas you do not (and you want to move into). Sending an inexperienced writer to write about a video (a video that is technical and based towards knowledgeable viewers) is folly on the editors part.

Honestly I can forgive a FPS player thinking a technical video on 1 mech being boring. The editor-in-chief being a dick in his follow up is the worse part to me.
"you've gotta respect that honesty -- that's how you know we're giving you real opinions and not mindlessly saying that every game looks super-awesome. We're gamers, not hype machines.

But MechWarrior is a big part of PC gaming history, so to aid in Taylor's personal journey of discovery, he'll be accompanying us to the Nvidia MWO LAN event next Friday"

Self-aggrandizing and puffery at its best.
