If they announce those future sales and heroes with "New Announcement soon! Not a mech!" and then say it is in regard to small unanticipated game content, then Yes people will complain. If on the on the other hand, they simply announce: "Sale starts tonight on Resistance wave 1 mechs!" Then have a sale on Resistance wave 1 mechs, then no I don't expect there would be a lot of complaints.

Not really a fair comment, as 'many' people have been crying out for Hero clans for ages.

But yes I was annoyed by the way it was announced, teasing people for so little was vexing to say the least.

I'm gonna be frank, I'm only here for the battletech label. But you know what? I don't want a turn based strategy game. I want to be in the cockpit. So the new BT game will not be tearing me away from MWO. My wallet will remain closed until we get some more light 'mechs though.

see im not really a battletech fan. ive never played the bored game, though i have read like 6 of the books. im a mechwarrior fan, and have been ever since i played the bundled version of mw2 that came with my voodoo card. i have both good and bad vibes of the inevitable schism hbs battetech will cause to the community. on one side the core mechwarrior player base will remain, and hopefully be far less interested in the role playing elements and more focused on the mech combat. so i have a feeling the focus of further developments will cater to my type of play.

on the other hand if it utterly decimates the player base to the point where mwo can no longer exist and the servers get shut down. i see 3 possible outcomes (4 if you count 'no mechwarrior 4 u' as an outcome). public release of server side software, for the capability of running private servers, with possibly a single phone home server to verify player loadouts. or pgi kills it, in which case you might see a resurgence of MWLL, general revitalization of that community, and possibly a restart of development (if hbs doesnt object at least). if not living legends, possibly other mech warrior games. the 3rd outcome is that another company picks up mechwarrior.

... means that down the road in the next year probably, we are going to get a Wave 2 & 3 heroes and sale, as well as for Resistance 1 & 2, Urbies and Origins IICs ?

This also explains why they chose the mechs they did for the recent champions build/vote, since they need champions to go with hero's to make more mastery bundles. That means future champion builds will likely be followed by heroes for the chassis which currently have neither (like Black Knights, Maulers, Wolf Hounds, etc). There's now champions for all the Resistance 1 mechs & Origins IIC mechs. Clans need champions for only the kit fox, ice ferret, nova, hellbringer, summoner, gargoyle, kodiak and executioner (not counting the as yet unreleased huntsman, linebacker and MAD-IIC). IS needs champions for the three I mentioned above as well as the Unseen five and the urbie.

Is that something to look forward to or just more things to complain about ? Discuss...

Probably best viewed as more insult on top of injury.

You are going to play exactly those same Deathmatches on those same maps as you have done a thousand times before.

Just like soccer players play the same rule set on the same sized field every time they play.....

Yeah... if I was paid 1% of what soccer players earn for playing MWO, you'd see me playing MWO 24/7, on the same map even.
I'm a battletech fan. And I play just for that.
MWO gameplay atm is not fun. Being forced to carry absolute potatoes every match is just a daily practice on masochism.
Its even getting worse as more and more potatoes are being catapulted into T1-T3.

I don't think a turn based game is really going to replace a FPS for most players.

oh, it will.
MWO won't die because of that though.
MWO will die because us BT fans were the only ones who willingly paid AAA title price tags for a single chassis, and the hordes of clueless potatoes coming in will laugh at those prices.
There may be few individuals here and there buying packs for whatever reason after that... but not enough to keep PGI going!

Go down to the gaming store, bust out the map board, record sheets and dice, and interact with real people is how I do my turn based battletech.

Its still a battletech game when it doesnt slavishly follow the ruleset of a completely different style of game. The mechs look like battletech mechs, the build system is battletech, the weapons are battletech,

And to be honest, if people are pulled away from a multiplayer FPS to a turn based strategy game.. they didnt want to be playing this in the first place. I don't think there will be much loss of good players. (a few, maybe. not significant).

Tbh i kinda hold out some hope that the most vocal types trying to ruin the game for me will be among those that leave, hopefully leaving this game in a better state by their absence.

There are a couple things u don't mention, after "The mechs look like battletech mechs, the build system is battletech, the weapons are battletech,".
In mwo there is no lore, no role, factions are meaningless and in BT only 5% (10%?) of missions are like what we called "skirmish, eliminate all the enemies" (of course about assaul or domination or conquest....they are all "skirmish" mission).

So yes, despite I like mwo, it seems to me more a fps with robot skins than a Battletech game.
I agree that pilots not particularly skilled will letf the game, ...'maybe because tired of being frustrated. Posted Image

edit: I forgot to mention that a BT game should have VTOL, support vehicles, MFB, etc....

Um, since it seems you don't know this, there are adults out there that play sports casually. A much larger number than MWO will ever see.

With that said being said, the point of my statement is that some people enjoy playing a game for the experience of the game itself and the satisfaction of bettering their play against opponents. Not because it tells em someone else's story. Not because it gives new visuals every month. Not because it's new and different every patch cycle. Not because they get victory over programmed bots.

Just wake me up when I can buy a Mist Lynx hero.

Hopefully the pods are something along the lines of 6xE.
