Just my two cents..
Ive about had it with them.
Sorry but its a joke.
Ive opened quite a few... and save for one instance of 250,000 CBills (which itself is not a rare item).. ive always landed on the most worthless item available.

Go back to awarding war horns and other such things during the contests... cause this is just plain crap.
takes a long time to even just GET a cache.. then you end up with junk every time.

Really? 250k c-bills IS one of the lowest payout options. Many of the options are worth more, sometimes significantly more. Some of those omnipods and weapons sell for over 300k.

As for opening them, I honestly don't usually bother unless I have a mech bay and a free mech (which includes a bay) as options. Otherwise it really isn't worth my time, and I just sell the cashe for the 50k c-bills.

Yah... they have disappointed me as well. I enjoy gambling more then I probably should, Vegas, casual, video game or otherwise, and this is the first time I've ever encountered a randomized loot system that was absolutely zero fun. The spin reel goes out of its way you ALWAYS drag out your hopes (Seriously, stop it. Doing that every once in a while is heart throbbing, doing it every time is just annoying), and it's got a 'success' rate that makes state lottos seem generous.

Honestly, I find the hamfisted, bordering on 'Is the designer of this mentally deficient' delivery of the system more offensive then the actual gambling. But, as everyone always says, it's optional - Just use the keys you got for free and get on with it.

50+ boxes opened, best item: Mechbay.

65 keys to go.

Much disappoint.

You will always feel cheated in one way or another when you don't get the top prize, but for every Mech you reconfigure that makes use of a weapon system that you won via a supply cache, it only helps your bottom line.

I try to remember that a $6.95 MC purchase works out to about $0.45 per supply cache key.

These things are great if you are C-Bill starved, but not so much if you are swimming in currency. Your break even point is 45000 C-Bill sale value on anything you get. That equates to the same value as the key in terms of MC conversion, were you to purchase a C-Bill bundle at the worst rate possible.

I've been lucky enough to get free premium time, a Mech Bay and a few other assorted items. Overall, I'm happy with the value of what I'm getting out of the supply caches. I'll probably keep opening them, too, until I have all the game content I'm looking for as far as Mechs and unlocked modules go.

My average payout is about 250,000 C-Bills per crate. Got a mechbay, and several cockpit items. All from event crates and keys. No complaints here.

I've opened many many many caches across multiple accounts. Its pretty much always the same story we already know too well.

I haven't bothered to look at how it works, but I suspect that each item has it's own individual chance to be spawned. Meaning its not random.

like.... lets say there are 100 tickets the spinny game uses.

the flamer has 30 tickets

the mechbay has 20 tickets

the 100,000 cbills has 20 tickets

the 100 mc has 15 tickets

the premium time has 10 tickets

and the dire wolf has 5 tickets

So of course you won't get the Direwolf.

You wouldn't believe how many cups of pop I have.

I've opened around 35. I've gotten two modules, a mechbay, (edit: CXL300), a couple cockpit items. Seems pretty ok to me.

$6.95 = 1250MC = 50 Keys

$6.95 = 50 Keys

$6.95/50 = $0.139

So at the worst dollar to MC ratio buy a key only costs you $0.139.

Using keys on boxes is an efficient way to convert MC to cash and maybe get lucky in the process, at least it's far far more efficient than buying CBills outright.

I've had one 500MC box as well as keys some smaller amounts of MC, lots of CBills, and lots and lots of junk, some of which I sell if I don't need. I haven't gotten a mech or mechbay from one, but I consider myself to have mostly benefited from opening boxes.

Look at the awards though, some boxes seem outright inferior to others. I only open the ones that have several options in them that I would like to get, the rest get sold for CBills.

Damn, you're right, Bandilly. I must have done the calculations based on the Canadinflation rate that PGI charges their own Canadian customers for purchases in American dollars, plus tax.

You live in a wonderful, wonderful world with your $0.139 supply cache keys! :P

Dunno, i only opened like 12 Caches with free keys. Only the ones that had a mech and 5 other Items i considered "ok" Items. Never opened one with more than two "trash" Items.

I got the blue trash Item on every single try. RNG is RNG. Would really like to know the chances for every item class. Nevertheless, my luck has been bad enough on those free keys. I'll never buy keys, ever.

I don't understand why anyone in their right mind would buy keys for MC, unless they are comfortable with the fact that you're basically buying C-bills with a tiny, tiny chance of other prizes. Most of the good prizes are "ultra rare" and you don't even get to know how rare that is. 1%? 0.1%?

As rewards from events, the supply caches are great. They're even better than normal cockpit item rewards, because now you can spend the keys on the caches you want. If you don't want a clapping surat cockpit item, don't open that cache. If you don't like the enviour eardrum warhorn, don't open that cache. You have the freedom to choose, which is nice.

If you actually thought that you would most likely get a lot of nice prizes that are worth more than the MC, you weren't paying attention. 100 keys cost 2500 MC. 6,5 million C-bills cost 4000 MC. You'll reach 6,5 million C-bills very fast if you keep opening crates and selling the content.

Supply caches are to be opened exclusively with free keys.. otherwise you can just waste your money in a casino..

They're the scratch tickets of online gaming. MWO is however one of the only such users of such a device, that allows you to examine the contents, and if you don't like them, sell it outright for 50k c-bills, and even if you do spend MC on them, the cost to open them in real money terms is ridiculously tiny compared to loot boxes/drops in other games.

I haven't gotten a mech yet, but I've gotten a 280XL engine, a half dozen bays, millions of c-bills, hundreds of weapons, about 20 million in modules, and three weeks of premium time, 5k GXP, oh and about 1000 MC. I like how they've increased the multiple-weapon packs at the uncommon level. Six C-MPLs in one cache for example was a nice open.

And they put both IS and Clan XL's in the caches too. The 280 XL I got went into one of my IS mechs that previously held a 275 XL and saved me spending 4.6 million c-bills.

I am of the opinion that supply caches are only worth opening if they happen to have either a Radar Dep. module, a Mech, or multiple modules/cockpit items that I actually want. The most notable items that I have received thus far are a Kit Fox (yes, a complete mech), a Radar dep module, a mech bay, and an XL 255 engine (sold it immediately). I have received quite a few other items as well, the last crate I opened had an Ice Ferret in it but the pointer just barely skipped over the mech and onto a pair of C-UAC/5s, and I was perfectly ok with that. I am collecting MC from events pretty much for the sole purpose of getting keys. On a side note I would LOVE it if paint colors or camo patterns were added as ultra rare drops for the crates!
