Oh well, glad to see that I'll be battling a greater variety of 'Mechs now.

I don't know if we'll see an influx of PHX and VPR on the field, neither ever reached critical mass like some of the recent meta sweethearts did.

I know... I'll probably wait for a sale on the Phoenix Hawk anyway.

I can tell you why it didn't, having had a chance to poke in the in-game Store and prototype some ideas. Limitations in loadouts kept it from being a real competitor against Mechs like the ShadowCat. Yes, I know about the whole "Clan Mechs are supposed to be superior" thing, but I could swear I.S.-based equipment wasn't supposed to be so constraining on design options either?

It also needs per-pod quirks instead of full set.

Nice Viper ad there... But how many matches do you have in the Viper?
This is my stats and I still think it needs a serious buff in terms of durability

Maybe.
For C-Bills only, though.

Yeah its particularly great when you sail waaaay out of the boundary.
Its a fun mech and amazingly agile/maneuverable in base pods but as a reminder the Viper is the poster child for the set of 8 bonuses and you lose a lot of agility changing things. Interestingly different experiences though as I found them ok firepower but no longevity as they couldn't carry enough heat sinks to sustain fire forcing you to play to the mechs strengths and hit and run. They were paper targets though and really could do with just some minor structure improvements. More than minor these become the old spiders....

In the mean time... the F*CKING kodiak-3 received structure bonuses and agility on release...
that is beyond messed up!

Interesting as I found the re-quirked PXH's became one of my favourite mediums as it moves like greased lightning in agility terms. Even just leveling it did nicely for me. Its definitely an agile knife fighter aka classic medium striker.
PHOENIX HAWK PXH-1: Kills per match 1.82, Death chance 47.06%, Damage Avge 440
PHOENIX HAWK PXH-1B: Kills per match 1.125, Death chance 41.67%, Damage Avge 421
PHOENIX HAWK PXH-1K: Kills per match 1.65, Death chance 56.52%, Damage Avge 384
PHOENIX HAWK PXH-2: Kills per match 1.3, Death chance 55.00%, Damage Avge 463
PHOENIX HAWK PXH-3S: Kills per match 1.37, Death chance 63.33%, Damage Avge 363
KUROI KIRI: Kills per match 1.00, Death chance 39.29%, Damage Avge 293
ROC: Kills per match 1.18, Death chance 57.14%, Damage Avge 393
The KK was an awful fit in hindsight but I didn't want to waste the c-bills to refit it totally.
The interesting one is the 3S which was AC10/3ML fit from memory but in which I lost the clear majority of my battles - a lot of them we were just roadkill ergo that astonishing 63.33% chance of death in every match... but it still managed 1.37 kills per match.
PS: Those are all solo queue matches while levelling mechs from 0xp to mastery.
