Bryan made off to some secluded area of the office with the best PGI programmers and equipment. He's also started cloning facilities to create smarter and better programmers than what PGI has ever seen. He'll come back in the future and claim PGI for his Clan so that it can become a great development studio!

I would have no issue with PGI starting up another game. I highly doubt I would give them any money for said new game, the hardest part would be if that new game was a Wing Commander Game (Since they have the license) that would continue the story where it left off, or tell early parts of the story before wing commander 1. It was just some Wing commander Game that uses the ships and is an arena space sim fighter.. no I would not fund that at all. If it just some new IP they are starting good luck with that, I would not be interested at all.

Thier problem last time was Timing, they chose the wrong time to try and launch a new game. Freshly split from IGP the community still warming up to them doing better. Honestly, the best time for them to do it would have been Early Last year when things with the community seem to be in a good place... now.. once again would be bad timing.

Transverse II:mobile ? wtf is this?
a new IP ? wtf? a new ip address?
What are you IT geeks talking about please?

Transverse was a game PGI tried to kickstart a couple years back that really pissed people off here because it seemed they were set to abandon this game as "complete".

IP is intellectual property. Battletech/Mechwarrior is a IP. When the OP talks about another IP he is referring to another game universe be it something existing like D&D for example or something brand new made up by PGI.

*edit* Bombast beat me to the explanation.

Take some time to think about this.

PGI is a company, and like any other company they have a right to make money and do with it what they will. Now, what they choose to do with it can, and will, influence the choices that their customer base makes. Just like ANY other business.

Right now, they are diverting money away from the game in the form of profits/dividends. PGI is currently doing that and I doubt anyone thinks of that in a negative way. What really matters to we the consumer is how much of the profits gets reinvested in the company, especially in a "service" based industry, versus a "product" based one where you don't tend to notice any difference in the product in relation to the amount of profit taken out (assuming no significant changes to how they produce their product...IE> changing it's material from stainless steel to plastic).

I see PGI/MWO as a service based industry. In a service based business, the consumer can more readily see a connection between the service and the amount of money put back into the company to maintain or improve the service.

As we saw in the Transverse fiasco, PGI told us what they were up to and even said that MWO would continue to be supported but not necessarily "developed". In other words they were putting MWO in Stasis and diverting funds to their new project.

In essence they were telling us that they were not going to do anything more with the service we were paying for and the money was going to be put to another service, which many of us objected to and did not want. If it had been two products, I don't think that there would have been as much an uproar because the immediate impact on the customer wouldn't have been noticed.

More importantly they made the huge mistake of telling us exactly where our money and resources for the game were going. They severely misjudged their clientele and what they were providing.

So, if PGI were to attempt something new it would prove interesting. We have a long memory, and having been scorned once we are more likely to react poorly again. The real problem is that I doubt that they have sufficient resources to continue to support MWO (in any way....) and divert funds to kickstart an ambitious new venture at the same time.

It's simply the same recipe as before, and the result is likely to be the same too. Unless, and this is likely, they have learned to keep everything on the "down low" from the pitchfork and torch carrying audience.

They've certainly been working on something other than MWO this year...

That's why we were moved to monthly patches, 3-monthly roadmaps, "no FP phase 4", 17-day event, no devlogs, etc etc etc.

I would immediately stop buying mech packs and keep playing MWO until Paul breaks it.

So.... basically, nothing would change for me. Right now, I'm not spending money anyway untill PGI delivers something big that I need to pay for.

I guess the thing that may change is that I would be less interested in paying for something like a PVE expansion pack or Solaris expansion pack if it was only online content, and their new project (e.g. Transverse 2) was hanging over MWO like the sword of Damocles. If PGI is likely to pull the plug at any moment, or stop developing their product, I don't want them to pretend like we're paying to keep MWO alive, while it's actually a cash cow for their new project.

This is why I want the future PVE content to be available offline, and not only online for as long as PGI is willing to milk it.

Honestly, I'm just waiting for Russ and Paul to sell something like the Mad Cat Mk II, get all the pre-orders for it, then shut down MW:O the day of it being released and run.

If Russ and Paul have access to your money, report it to the bank and your local law enforcement. If you're just letting them use your finances, though, you have no one to blame but yourself.

Hmmm... so it's crap to post what one feels, which you note he never actualyl claimed is what PGI is doing? But half of your own posts are OK?

Wowzers dude. I mean I don't agree with him, but it's obviously hyperbole about his frustration at the lack of tangible product for all the mechpacks hocked.

Chill a tad?

We are the monster they made.

Mole was just saying he feels that way because that is what it feels like when looking at the progress the devs have made, and frankly the devs haven't done much to dissuade that view. It was a rather benign statement really.
