Use Right Cntrl Key with the above to select/unselect a weapon for each group.
Use Backspace Key w/Left/Right Arrow keys to select the weapon group that you want to toggle between Alpha and Chain fire. The weapon group will be highlighted and appear to be cycling through each weapon when Chain Fire has been activated.

You can only change alpha and chaining IN GAME.
So, join a game, then use the arrows and backspace.
Don't shoot anyone while you do it.

Quote
What mech(s) are you currently running with what weapons?
Long range vs short range
Left vs Right
Arms vs Torso mounted weapons
Running same weapons, breaking them up into groups allows more control over heat/heat spikes/current Ghost Heat setup. The Mechlab will inform you if your mech can generate ghost heat, and it can be different between Clan and IS mechs.
Keep it simple at first.

Actually, you can set up your weapon groups in Testing Grounds rather than in-game without any risk of accidental friendly fire.
Also, an alpha strike does not require you to do set anything. Just hit the alpha strike key and every weapon you have will fire .... other than Gauss Rifles due to the charge up mechanic.

One weapon group I like to have set to chain fire which is great for taking out lights' legs. The other two are set up either based on which side of the mech they are on, or set up by range/primary weapon.

Also, how do I sell a mech? I have 3 I bought that I don't like at all.

Do not chain fire unless you are running hot.
Generally the best way to use a laser vomit build like that is to stick near cover- then pop out and alpha- then back to cover to cool down.
You can sell mechs from your inventory tab on the upper left hand side of your screen.
