Dear Developer,

I think we really need some new maps soon. The ones were currently have are fine, but are getting rather well used.

Thjaks!

we don't need another bunch of maps - we need refined versions of the current. The map need to meet the need of the game mode - not all maps are good to play assault, conquest or domination on them.

HPG is so obvious a domination map, while terra is great for conquest - mining sucks in conquest - don't know about domination - but i think its a great assault map - multiple routes that need scouts to see the enemy advance before it sacks your base.

Crimson as example isn't a good assault or conqest map - only two routes for assault - spots are to close and visible

Skirmish? Well we need a better game mode - skirmish sucks

Sorry, I have to disagree, currently many of the maps have a set strategy. For example, "Manifold" generally results in a team either taking the top or bottom of the facility. New maps are indeed needed, new terrain dictates new tactics. Your view of refined versions of the current maps, maybe true, but your idea of refinement my not be the save view held by someone else. At least with some more new maps, it in effects gives the game some break in the map rotation monopoly.

I made a thread back on HPG asking, and it turns out that a large majority of people who care about MWO would happily make quality maps for it if they had the chance.

All it would take is to know what version of cryengine sdk to use for the mapper, and for pgi to release an ents and script pack so maps can be compatible, and some sort of community testing and vetting system vaguely similar to the steam workshop for tf2 maps.

I was thinking about this the other day, and I actually agree with both sides of the discussion:
Yes, certain maps are really kind of awful for certain game modes.
Alpine Peaks + Domination. One side has a clear advantage for shooting down into the bowl with cover. while the other side can suck it.
Polar Highlands + Assault. The bases are SO far apart that any if you go for the enemy base you can't support shifting tactics at all.
Crimson Straight + Domination. Team 2 is at an extreme disadvantage since team 1 can generally move on the center point while keeping it in sight the whole time.
Terra Therma (is being remade, so that's fine. We'll not judge too harshly)
There are going to be more, for several reasons, but I feel the point is clear

That said, I really think we could use more maps.
I'd love to see:
A Mech factory. kind of a cross between Mining Collective and a hive city. big open area for the bays and shipping, tight canyons along the assembly lines. Nearby dropship ports to ship mechs offworld. Thick walls for defense around the facility.

A Noble's Palace. I envision a fairly pastoral map with rolling hills (cross between polar highlands and forest colony) with a fairly central nobles palace with appropriate mech-oriented facilities. Possibly a village or town to fight around or through.
The Battletech setting can be really iconic, and while PGI has made really beautiful maps that give great sense of scale and make the player feel invested, I don't think they've done the greatest job picking out really iconic settings that encapsulate the "feel" of the universe.
Grandiose. Immense. Overwhelming. Huge. Powerful. All these should be adjectives used for the setting. I get that sense when playing HPG - I can't help but marvel at the implied engineering involved with the location. I don't get that as much with the other maps. (Well, maybe Forest Colony because OMG Those Trees)

The Mech Factory can really place the universe and make players feel in the game, giving some fairly universe-specific space that makes sense to battle over
The Noble's Palace is another one of those things that is pretty deeply embeded in the Battletech setting - all these feudal houses and the allegory of knights in armor battling other knights.

Maps are almost fine, it's what ya do with it that counts....

Alpine - conquer is great. Alpine Dom isn't.

More thinking needs to be put into the modes (and have more modes).

Dom simply means.... brawl. It's idiotic.

Assault, cuuremt;y the worst game mode. It was my fav by far.

Skirmish - This should be removed. Yet currently it my fav, It really shouldnt be.

Conquer - This is Meh. Most times its a brawl then Cap. I want a damn good reason to use my lights.

http://mwomercs.com/...etary-campaign/

Why not have a couple of planets and run 'historical' Battletech campaigns on them? The fluff is there for so many awesome planetary campaigns, why not use it? If you want to use a particular faction, they have been in conflict at some point with someone.....
