But do we know at what time on August 7th that the download servers will become available to those of us not previously selected for beta?

((I'm hoping they let Founders download the game a few days ahead of the 7th to lighten the load on the download servers a bit))

You should probably be setting the event location to Vancouver (to specify the dev's own timezone) and set the time to 12:00 instead of 00:00.

Unfortunately that adds almost an entire day to the timer...

It is a known fact that the likelihood of a smooth MMO launch is in inverse proportion to the number of people that take off from work to play. So don't do that, mmmkay?

I'm not going to expect to get in a play smoothly until the 10th just because I've been part of too many launches

No worries Namikaze, I'm taking 3 weeks off from work at the start of August for a vacation unlrelated to MWO. It will in fact keep me from it till the 15th. The fact I won't be able to play for an entire week after launch dispite being off from work should smooth out the effects of others taking time off specificly for it.

I thought it was Beta Access on the 7th? Not early access. IE Not "launch"

As long as they do not **** up as hard as blizzard did with diablo 3 it will be okay i think.

My understanding is it's sort of a phase 2 beta. There will be no more account wipes, so what you do will be permanent, but it will still be closed beta. Most likely followed by an open beta, followed by release.

Yea man! I can't wait to start playing in the servers on the 7th Aug. I'm intending to read up some of the tactics used in the previous MW games. So I won't be that bad when the time comes.

Ah. I was reading the pinned thread and there was some arguing about it on the page it linked to what the Dev said, so was a bit confusing.

An interesting approach to call it beta so people expect bugs and know (or at least should know) that it will be like that and they should be working on reporting, but at the same time, without wipes, I wonder how well it will go over with people who don't start playing until later in open beta or the official release if they are behind.
