There's enough room in the Drop Prep screen to list each 'mech's build. Such a feature would be a huge help to a potential leader to gauge the company's capabilities and formulate a strategy. It would also help all players fit themselves to the team and adjust their playstyle if they knew what the others bring to the battle.

Each 'mech's build should be judged by its damage potential in range brackets. A simple list denoting ranges could be used like S for short-range, meaning brawlers, M for mid-range, L for long-range sniper builds and an extra letter for lrm carriers as in L(L) because it's important to differentiate snipers from lrm boats.

A simple change that would benefit the players and leaders immensely.

I'd be happy just to see my own mech's build on the drop screen rather than waiting for the match to start to see what weapons are on it or how the weapon groups are set up before the match starts.

I don't know how you'll fit 11 other mechs on one screen effectively or efficiently.

It would also be funny to see designations for incorrect descriptions for a mech, like "short range" when seeing a 2 CERLL Arctic Cheetah or "mid range" Atlas.

My only issue with this, is that you WILL get Nerdrage when someone inevitably drops in a "fun" or "troll" build.

As the majority of my builds are NOT Meta, I can expect to pick up more Tier 1 Hate Speech than normal.

Something else to cause people to rage and complain, because other people are not using the builds that salty boy thinks they should.

No thanks..

I can agree to this change but only in FP or maybe in GQ. But not in Solo-Q. I need to be able to see and tell the guy to change his noob build, should he brings LRM boats to Grim Portico.

id love to have a little mouseover that shows a loadout, armor, structure, and ammo paperdoll for that mech. this could be used in the lobby for the friendly team. also in game will show the full status of any friendly player. it will also show the last available scan for any enemy mech that has been targeted and information gathered. it would be a great info war addition.

Maybe that long range/short range/mid range thing can be incorporated into the command wheel somehow?

That's none of your business how I build my mechs.

You don't look under the hood of each car before a race either. I see no benefit from knowing other guys loadouts before a match in quickplay but I do see lots and lots of people that die first and then raging on your stupid noob build that carries the match. Well no thanks, really.

I don't see why we can't get a paper doll to see our teammates' loadouts ever, it makes no sense that we can see target info for enemies but never allies unless we die and spectate them.

Just make a separate button to target an ally and it would be more than good enough; I know that E has nothing bound to it by default so you could easily make E be the default button for the Target Ally function.

As for people worrying about other players criticizing their weird/crappy builds, just ignore them if you're not a scrub or maybe listen to them if you are a scrub; either way don't be a whiny fragile flower by arguing against an actually useful function because you don't want your precious feelings hurt.

Were this a thing, I'd expect a lot of insults and other profanities coming my way for not running a vomit build or a build approved by the community.
In a game like League of Legends, your teammates can see what kind of items you're buying. Needless to say, I've been yelled at for not buying items they think I should buy.

So you would have to be responsible for your build choice. Might want to listen.

Or, I could build what works for me, and what I have fun in. I have no desire to be in the Super Meta Tier 1. I'm happy in Tier 3. I can run Super Stocks, or weird builds against other T3'ers and hold my own.

The issue occurs when my Tier 3 build and skills gets matched up against a highly tuned PPFLD mech piloted by someone with the twitch reflexes of a caffeinated squirrel (The average Tier 1).
Because then my team is effectively down one player, and I have a VERY short match. Which is no fun for anyone on my side of the match.

Or should I ONLY use Laser Vomit Timberwolves (or whatever the damned Meta is now), and never ever try anything other than Tier 1 Approved Designs.

If you consistently have a very short match just because you're matched up against somebody good, then it suggests you either have a bad playstyle or a bad build or both, and by bad I don't just mean "not meta" but actually legitimately bad.

The majority of responses are negative because you don't want to be criticized for the build you've chosen. So, fear makes you reject a useful addition to the game that could potentially result in victorious battles. I disagree but to alleviate your fears let me say that what I'd like to see isn't an exact description of your build but rather a summary. I don't propose that a leader mouseover each individual 'mech and spend 3-4 seconds going over each build on a paper doll or something similar. I want the players and the leader to be able to gauge the company's capabilities and each 'mech's role at a glance. A simple column with one letter ==> S, M, L, L(L) and nothing more.

Who cares if some jerk flames you because he doesn't like the implied build? You get flamed anyway and it's not like you're not going to fire those LRMs and hide the fact you have them. Really, such fears have no place getting in the way of a useful - and in my opinion necessary - feature to the game.

It's not consistently bad. If I spend most of a Tier 1 match hiding behind rocks and poking out every so often for a shot, I can last about half a match. The problem is, that ISN'T Mechwarrior to me. That's Halo 3 Team Snipers on Standoff, without the Jumping.

Yes, I am a Bad Player. I charge in when I "shouldn't" because I want to fight in big stompy robots. Not spend 15 mins fighting like it's WW1 Trench Warfare. Don't get me wrong. I understand the concept of softening up an enemy, of flanking, etc and so forth. But so many matches seem to just involve two Gunlines that are unwilling to engage (or so it seems to me at least).

On top of that, I like to run Super Stock where I can. Especially with IS chassis, though I quite often leave my Omnis with their Stock Pods, even if I do change the weapons. Which means I run some truly terrible builds sometimes. But I don't do that specifically to spite the team. I do it because I am trying to get my Battletech Nostalgia back.

It doesn't happen often, thankfully, but there are times when someone (and when I search them up, they quite often have the T1 Tag, though not always) will berate me with being a "Waste of Air" "My mother should have swallowed" "L2Gitgud Noob" "Uninstall and never come back"..... you get the idea.
Why?
Because I picked a bad time to brawl in my Atlas.
Or I'm running an Assault Mech with some LRMs (as ranged support weapons, till my main ordnance is in LoS).
Or because I poked over the wrong ridge.
Or because I am running a Super Stock build.
Or..... because I am running a Super Stock Urbie.... Yeah, I know, but I love the little AC20 Trashcan.

To be fair, I misnamed it. It shouldn't be Tier 1 Hate Speech, as some of the Tier 1s I have played with HAVEN'T given me grief for ruining their match with my presence.
It would be more accurate to call it "Tryhard" Hate Speech.

I do get it. Some people are competitive. That's how they enjoy the game. But not everyone is.
I play to get my BT fix. Nothing more, nothing less.

Just like there are terrible ways to build a mech there are terrible ways to build champs in LoL. If you go full ad Veigar, expect someone to say something.
