I was looking through the 3050 TRO and I realized we dont have the Banshee 5S. Interesting huh?

In MWO terms, wouldn't it be very similar to the 3S just with a decent engine cap (thus making the 3S even more irrelevant)?

(Please be gentle, I don't really TRO, so I'm talking out of school here).

EDIT: Just disregard my previous text, I misread the TRO.

Probably avoided because it's too similar to other models, and because it's got two potential hero versions of it.

I mean with the precedence set by the Kodiak, there are probably a couple of variants sitting out there that could be added, not just the BNC-5S. I believe the fact it was produced in 3053 had something to do with the reason we have yet to see it. Only new mechs get to wave the timeline like that (and the Bushi is the first chassis which debuted in 3053 or later I believe).

Banshee 5S would make a good variant for 2017 reward program. Would also balance out having a 95 ton IS reward vs the EXE-C(L) of 2015.

The 5S 'Sawyer' would be interesting as well, since it's jump capable. Could be a potential second hero, maybe?

Probably the same reason they don't have the EBJ-D in the game: insert ******** reason here.

And it's modeled...the La Malinche was going to have JJ but apparently that would have been OP or something?

EBJ-D will also probably be a rewards variant at some point.

Seems like the only reason to hold mechs off at least to me. Want that specific variant? Buy some packs. How could PGI not want to do something like that?

At the time, it was thought to be a better Highlander-732... before the Hoverjet™ change. Now, it's just mostly a joke build type of thing.

It also didn't have any JJ variants, which was kind of a problem... then again, we got more hero ECM variants added to the fold, beyond the hero Lolcust.

Agreed. I love me some more Banshees, though, easy and overall solid mech to pilot. My favorite 95 tonner overall. Might be my favorite assault overall even.

I'm apparently a sucker for 95 tonners since I love BNCs and EXEs both. :D

I don't believe the hardpoint configuration is better than the 3S. Its only appeal is a higher engine cap. Another downside is you lose a crit to the extra hand actuator.

Sadly it's hard points are pretty similar to the 3S, it'd basically be a sacrifice of a slot (cuz extra hand) for a higher engine cap... Basically an upgrade with no real downside.

i wouldn't mind another bansh. after all these years its a solid mech. it had everything early on that newer mechs just pack standard. frankly im shocked that were not seeing them in the tourney. the only time ive ever gotten close to ace of spades was in a bansh. 7 kills then died to a last second joust with a spider. i can see a loyalty varient next year perhaps, or it might be a gift store varient. i really wish they would do more of those. its a great lower budget alternative to mechpack.

How about the 3Q? An all ballistics Banshee would be epic! #PlzPGI

I'd love a Banshee 5S because my 3S isn't fast enough :(

four words
CLASS ONE JUMPJETS

GGCLOSE

I think the BNC-3S, 5S, 7S, vandergriff, sawyer, rheinsblatt
have one common determinator nobody did try to make the record sheets consistent.
It's the same low quality as with the missile launcher on the Thunderbolt variants, or the location of the Gargoyles main armament.

the 5S has the missile in the arm plus two energy hardpoints in the other. but keeps the PPC in the torso (somehting you do with the 3S already when trying to "create" the BNC-5S.

The miniature of the BNC-3/5S places two lasers in the right arm and a big gun in the arm.
