Collector's packs are there so you can get a cbill boost on the non-hero loadout, and to donate more money to game development. That's why they give special "loyalty rewards" to those who buy the Collector's Packs.

The main point of collector's addons is that every year they have a loyalty rewards program. This is this year's:

Basically, the collector's packs purchased before tomorrow count for this year's loyalty program, while any after this point will (most likely) count for next year's. A decent amount of people this year lost out on qualifying because they bought packages too soon last year.

First, if the quirks on the prime are important to you, you might want to get the Collector's pack just so you can take advantage of those quirks for your 30% bonus mech. They are pretty good quirks on the prime as well with both a 10% reduction in ballistic cooldown and 10% lower ER Laser duration, probably the best of all the variants to be honest.
Second, you get an additional 30 days worth of premium time. If you usually run premium time this by itself has a value of about $12.
Third, you get 3 of each cockpit item which means you don't have to play switcharoo every time you want to mount one of the items in a different mech.
So when you add it up, if you can use the premium time your only investing $8 more for the +30% bonus prime variant, the extra standard prime variant which you can sell for probably like 12 million C-bills, the extra mech bay it comes with, plus 2 extra of each cockpit item. That is a pretty good value.
On the other hand, if you are like me with about 6 months of banked premium time laying around, it gets hard to justify the extra $20 just for a 30% c-bill bonus mech that is copy of what your already going to get when you can buy the Hero for $15 and get a +30% c-bill bonus mech that way. This is especially true due to the fact that the hero is unique and the ONLY way to ever get access to the Hero's Omnipods, is to buy the Hero. That in itself has a fair amount of value.
Edit: Yes I had forgot. The Collectors Packs will potential unlock loyalty rewards you can't get any other way.

Yeah, it's mixed. IF you want the other stuff in the collectors pack, and intend to use the Prime CT in your builds, then the collectors pack can be an ok deal. If you're just after mechs, go standard+hero; that gets you a cbill bonus CT you can use all the omnipods on at $35 instead of $40, and it also gets you 4 sets of unique omnipods instead of 2xPrime and 2 other sets.
If you'd consider buying premium time, for example, the a collectors edition gains in value.
Personally, I got standard+hero, and will probably grab reinforcements in a week or two as funding permits.
