Dire Wolf needs seriously a drastic change!

I mean, it has almost the same arm model (or the same arm model) as the warhawk, but the mech CT itself is much bigger, effectively mining its shielding capabilites.

If remodeled a bit more on pair with MW4/Living Legends, i'm pretty sure it would greatly benefit the mech without breaking any game balance. It would have bigger/stronger arms, a CT a bit smaller but with a more pronounced cockpit.

With the Kodial arrival, carrying almost same firepower but with changeable engine and faster turning rates, DW is rapidly losing its reason to be in the game.

OK, i have never lost a direct battle against a Kodiak with my Dire Wolf, but faceoff pounding isn't everything in the game and there are many many more aspects to be taken into consideration in order to analyze a mech capabilities properly.

Direwolf could use a little more protection, and i ain't talking quirks nor nothing of the sort. Just a better model/hit box/DMG spread.

Please find below some images from MW4/Living Legends, for your appreciation/analysis:

Yeah the DWF torso scal and proportions in MWO are not very nice. imo it should be more sleek looking. In fact the concept art actually is quite good in this regard.. the translation to model is aweful though

Indeed! I believe that arms a bit bigger and a smaller "cap" or whatever that thing right above the cockpit is would help a lot!!!

Please keep in mind that they already modified the Dire Wolf model in MWO, so
1) It doesn't look like the picture above anymore
2) They're not likely to do it a second time

needs bigger arms, fatter legs, overall smaller torso, and proportionally the torso nosecone is so stretched out vertically and oversized it looks almost silly.

I actually like Direwolf as it is, my only issue is it's handling traits.

It handles just like it's supposed to... and i wouldn't have it any other way.

IIRC, the Direwolf got kind of screwed in the rescale. The nose shrunk, but the profiles are basically the same from every angle so you're just as easy to hit. :l

I'd like to point it out that this matter remain unchecked.

BTW, the hitboxes for the DW are ever awful, this mech demands change!

So... you're saying you think the Dire Wolf needs a buff...?

I'm sorry, I just can't take this premise seriously.

Give me a Warhawk with actual PPC barrels and the LRM launcher in the correct position for the Prime, THEN we can talk about the Dire Wolf.

DW has Wide Spread Arms, Plus low mounts. Couple that with the worst torso twist in the game, and that's it: if you show yourself at the wrong time, your're done.

Plus, Kodiaks can carry almost the same amount of stuff and still get quircks! I'm really don't think KDK's are OP in any way really, but the way it is, dire wolves are too much underpowered for its advantages!

PGI should really consider bring whales back to the game, it is such a iconic mech!

Edit:

My change list suggestion:

1. Bigger arms, it still uses the same arm model of the warhawk.
2. Complete remodeling: Just look at the images above.
3. Some quicks that stimulate the way the direwolf is played. Doesn't have to be OP or break the meta, it only need a fighting chance.

How 'bout we remodel the Warhawk so it LOOKS LIKE A GODS DAMNED WARHAWK and not a slightly off-model Dire Whale before we work on remodeling the Dire Whale to look like a different Dire Whale.

The Warhawk needs modeling work about a thousand and seventeen times more than the frag-mothering Whale does. To Gehenna with the Whale until the Warhawk no longer requires three inspections and a field guide to tell apart from Whales on the battlefield.

I went out to pilot my D-Wolves yesterday. It sure is all about smart placement and stay with the pack, BUT not show yourself too much either. As a small relief, the Kodiak, Atlas and King Crab are sure all focus targets once they show themself, so at least the Dire arent alone in that regard.

Every time someone post a buff a clan mech thread, PGI breaks out the dartboard of balance and nerfs another I.S. mech

Both the Warhawk and DIrewolf are to damn big. THey are both about the same height, but the Warhawk is alot skinnier overall then the Dire Wolf. DIre Wolf is way to damn fat though, as is the Warhawk.

They both need rescaling, the whole game needs a rescaling, and a real one, not the one we got a few months back.
