On the other side, good on you guys for giving recognition to the top teams that stuck it out in this terribly organized event. The regional finals were great to watch, congrats to the teams that made it that far.

Do I dare pick up one of those snazzy Storm Jag-emblazoned tchotchkes?

Um... what?
The prize pool has increased from 100k to 140k and continues to climb.

This is effectively a sad form of gouging.
You know League of Legends and DotA2 do the exact same ******* thing, or are you too ******* stupid to look past your own anger to see that this is to support Esports players, and not to gouge the player base for more money?

If people want to support a unit, that's their business.
For $10, this is insulting IMO.

Regarding Mech_The_Dane's reddit post:
(Here: https://www.reddit.c...me_but_will_be/)
Tina posted this on reddit, in regards to why there were 32 decals injected into the game, and why 17 of them WONT be for sale, and will be removed:
Quote
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this sounds to me like "we don't want players to be able to purchase Emblems for units they aren't in" Regardless of the reasons behind it (Misrepresenting units? Defacing unit logos? idk...)
There is then a flurry of posts discussing this.
Now we have this Regional Finalist Supporter pack, which, effective allows you do exactly what I just mentioned, have Unit Cockpit items for units you aren't a part of. Which directly contradicts Tina's post in the reddit (provided I am interpreting it correctly).
....whut?

Yes, I was waiting for this page to go up before replying: https://mwomercs.com/store/tournament
These cockpit items is what we had planned for team fan support, where players can have the team emblems of all top 5's to pick from. As the cockpit item is to represent support and anyone can buy it, the Emblem Decals are to represent the player wearing it as the very player who took part of MWOWC2016 and on that specific team roster and made it to the top 5 of their region.

You do not get a decal. Just cockpit items.

Why is it insulting? I can think of much more insulting things going on in the world today to get angry over...
Long before this package, $10 should've provided more coverage regarding the tourney (I'm not even talking about the "playoffs", I'm talking about actual coverage) even if it were weekly or monthly.
A tourney that spent most of its time having garbage rules (made up at the last minute), horrible roster options (12 players max - which no MWO league would constrain people with actual jobs/lives with), with a significant dropout rate (which is always expected, but not to this degree) for what could be classified as "attendance" for winning in many instances.
None of what I had to deal during this process with is even worth $10.. it's a sheer mockery of e-sports in general.
So, "gouging" is the nicest word describing this.

I'm not sure how that differs from the $10 Tournament supporter pack they put out before the tourney ever started... Perhaps I am missing what you mean by coverage....

For $10, $5 goes towards the prize pool is more generous that LoL, which the Championship skins cost roughly $15, and only about $3.75 goes to the prize pool. http://mashable.com/...s/#vCul9wB2GiqY
Again, you are an idiot.

The "coverage" is I mean updates to everyone not aware of the progress of the tournament. As the thing progresses, to keep people interested... even if they don't participate is to make them aware what's happening.
It started strong initially, but pretty quickly fading out over time as fewer people knew what was going on (at least the people involved were watching - everyone else? not so much).
In any e-sport or just any sort of competition that you want people to give a damn about... you would do everything in your power to make it known. Failure to do that does a disservice to the tourney, but also to your own product.

I don't think you read anything I was telling you... so "ok".
