It was 15 minutes for a long time, then 30 for a few weeks and now it's an hour and it's way too long... were the servers taxed that much to lower the update frequency so much?

Ideal value would be 20 minutes so 3 times in an hour.

Why is this such a big deal for people? I know it's kind of lame, but still... it's just an hour.

Though the grab bags are weird. They seem to reset every hour at XX15 rather then XX01 hours. Bizarre.

Stay tuned next year when it gets bumped up to 3 hours.

It's a pretty simple to track challenge.. match score 80 at terra, kmdd or kill on huntsman. 500 match score in a day. Only the huntsman one might be slightly harder to track if you were looking at him die. But just play normally, bound to see another one and you should be aiming to do loads of dmg or kill anything anyways so I don't see any problems with a long update time

Is it really so hard to keep an eye out for the KMDD text after you kill a Huntsman or check your score after the game to tally it? Or does everyone just dc and connect to next game without spectating?

is it so hard for people to count 3 match scores together? And I think you can remember if you played on mordor or not...

ok, the KMDD for the Huntsman might be confusing but that should be over for most people these days.

It reduces game server load which improves connection times for the mech lab and matches.

So, there's a lot of benefit for the mild inconvenience of an hour lag.

People are not complaining because of huntsman or cumulative match score challenges you dolts. It's the 15 loot bags one, it's sorta hard to keep count how many more matches you need when it updates once in an hour.

I totally forgot grab bags has started. Maybe this will help motivate me to level up the Loyalty mechs and 3 Riflemen sitting in my garage, now that I made my thread about the OPness of KDK-3.

Again, it's match score of 80. You play 15 matches straight and most times you've unlocked the daily limit. Seriously, it's not that hard.

I don't find it hard to wait, but, being a software developer myself, I wonder where the long time comes from.
For computers, an hour is something close to infinity. RAM can handle MILLIONS of records in split seconds.
Even servers commnicating via LAN or internet can transfer tens of thousands of records in a matter of seconds. And assembling them from in-memory data to a string takes virtually no time if done properly.

Of course, I also see on a regular basis crap code based on crap code libraries which themselves are based on crap code.
Stuff gets copied around hundreds of times mindlessly before it gets actually used.
I wonder if that is the case here.
And/or if there is some bottlenecking crap SQL DB that slows everything down.

Hardest part for me right now is remembering the number of matches I've played today for the grab bag event. Keeping track of the other challenges was easy.

Alternatively, just take screenshots of every match result page that qualifies towards working toward a goal (Whatever it may be). Hurray for Fraps.

What on earth is that a picture of? I have never seen one of those before. Does it pair with my device wirelessly or do I plug it in?

The only one that I wanted to check was killing/kkmd a huntsman... as I don't always pay much attention to green? notification words that appear on screen during the game when in the middle of a fight.
