Hello all,

I'm a new player, for the second time around. When I played, a few years ago, I was able to buy a CPLT and I put on 2 U-AC5's and 4 med Lasers. I hit like a wet noodle and it really makes the game difficult to enjoy.

In playing with some friends, I have discovered that I really want a Timberwolf... yet I only have 4.5m credits. Does anyone have a how to of making credits quickly as it seems to be a VERY slow grind.

I should say that my friends, who I play with, are very high ELO, so it get dragged into strong matches, but I really have no desire to solo.

Any guidance would be great.

Do all the stuff in the academy. Lots of cbills to be gained there.

As far as in game, buy some premium time.

What mechs do you currently have? Lots of folks here can recommend some good builds which will certainly help.

Edit, if the K2 is your only mech, the metamechs build is nice (2UAC5s and 2 PPCs) but you will need an XL to do it. A lot is going to depend on what you have in your inventory and if you are willing to spend cbills to change your loadouts.

Also, there is an event going on right now, every time you get a match score of 80 you get a random prize, up to 15 per day. A lot of them are c-bills, some are premium time, and some other stuff, so I suggest trying to get all those, it will add to your winnings, and is going on until Nov. 1. Should be able to hit the 80 match score in any mech as long as you stick with the team and not try to be too aggressive, patience is key.

Check out the event though, there are other things you can do too... (match score on Terra Therma, killing a Huntsman) https://mwomercs.com/tournaments

Unless something has changed he actually needs to do the basic tutorial, as there are no CBills to be had by just wandering around in free roam in the academy.

I have no problem saying, get a hero mech you can do well in, and use it as a credit earner. I am done saving for mechs because I have like the ultimate mech stable with all weight classes and weapons load outs, all the mechs fully mastered with modules. I am now saving for a dropship or jumpship when or if they are added or some other high price tag item. Heading for 500 mill.

So using a Hero mech as an earner works well. Premium time runs out, hero mechs do not.

I still use the Cicada X-5 a lot. My most used mech ever is the Orion Protector. Both hero mechs. Neither easy to do well in although the Cicada X-5 speed does allow for choosing where to fight most of the time.

One of my biggest remaining goals aside from buying a jumpship some day Posted Image is getting an assult and light hero mech. Hoping for an epic galactic war of course but a hero in each weight class would be credit earning Nirvana/Elysium/Heaven/Valhalla Posted Image.

If you complete all the achievements, you get all the c-bills. ~5 mil IIRC. I'd just go down the list and bang them all out.

That's on purpose.

PGI wants you to spend cash instead of grinding. That's the basic operating principle of the majority of so-called Free-to-Play games.

Is that through the explore mode or through the normal tutorial mode?

Tutorial

Edit
My apologies and Kudos to Mole and Pariah. I should have been more precise. I had forgotten that explore was even a thing. Only time I ever did the academy was to do the tutorial.

Tutorial

OK. I'll go back and finish it. I think I only did the maneuvering race portion (the first challenge thing)

excuse my ignorance, but which ones qualify as a Hero Mech? What is the investment for one of them?

Money. Hero mechs provide 30% higher C-Bill earnings per game. This stacks with premium time. One great game with a 30% mech and premium can net you 400,000-500,000 CB.

However, hero mechs need to be purchased with cold hard cash. Except maybe some of the original Heros, which just need MC. Which you mostly get via cold hard cash.

Wow! Now you are making me feel like a wallet warrior... I don't have nearly as many mechs as you have (I think), but I have met that achievement long ago...

I have an Ember, Huginn, Oxide, Sparky, Jester and two Miseries (yes, really).

Now to get those 500 million C-bills :-/ ...

Hey Alelock, welcome back, maybe consider picking up a hero mech for that C-bill bonus, that will certainly help you earn faster.
Also consider actually playing solo, playing in a group with more advanced players is gonna limit your ability to earn.
If i had the spare cash atm i'd just gift you a TBR, which is annoying cos i have a spare TBR prime sitting their that never gets used, and no way of letting you have it.

There are many and they are annotated with an "H" in the store I thought. You could also go this route for your first Timber: https://mwomercs.com/clan-heroes although those won't come out until mid November

In order to actually fully level the mech you need three of them, so one option is to buy the Timber Wolf pack in the store online, which gets you three Timbers, one of which with a 30% C-bill boost, but that cost 55 dollars. The hero is cheaper, and you can use it to grind out two more Timbers, but that will of course take time, but will cost less money, and you have a unique omni-pod set that you can't buy for c-bills.

Hah. yeah, i may have to try to buy a hero. Looking in to costs of that now.

I appreciate the willingness of the gift but no worries :D

Actually, to be honest, once you decide you are willing to spend real money, I would step back and take a look at what you really want. Instead of a Hero Timber, you could spend 20$ and buy 3 Kodiaks (Kodiak-3 is the best mech in the game right now). You could also buy 3 Night Gyrs, which are very good heavies, like a Timber but trades mobility for significant firepower. I would actually say that those two might be your best deal right now, because you get mech bays for them as well, and some premium time (30 days worth) which will help you earn more c-bills.

https://mwomercs.com/kodiak
https://mwomercs.com/night-gyr

These are both great mechs and will help you get your C-bills for your Timber Wolves. The Kodiak-3 with 2 UAC10s and 2 UAC5s should print C-Bills for you.

I have the MC already to get either an assault hero or light hero. I really want to get the Wasp, Sting or Valkyrie mech pack so it should work out perfectly getting the King Crab hero when it comes out.

King Crabs are short range by the way. Hint hint. :) Maybe dual AMS for those pesky missiles?
