I'd have said Ebon Jag but I'm having a lot of fun in Hellbringers at the moment.

If I get to swap omni-pods, then make mine a Timberwolf. No contest.

If not, WHM 6D I guess..

Quickdraw 4G pre-rescale.

If I have to stick with current game reality, probably a Cataphract-D.

What can I say? I like tough, ugly mechs with jump jets (I thought about Grasshoppers (any variant but the J), but if it is my ONLY mech ever, I think laser vomit and only laser vomit would get old).

One mech?

I'm honestly torn between Battlemaster, Stalker, and War Hawk.

Any of those three would be my one mech to rule the game...
....anyone else notice they're all 85 tons?

Hunchback 4G with AC20 of course. Fun mech all year around.

Nova for me. Probably the most fun I've ever had. Have to play it as an Assassin though.

I almost put IV-4 (I have 3) but like the Grasshoppers and laser spam, the IV-4's low ballistics get a bit boring after awhile (and with a 30% cool down, I'm running those ballistics).

I haven't run the Quickdraws since the quirkening... With so many mechs (200+) in my arsenal, it's hard to give them all the time they deserve. And we know after shrinking a bit, they deserve it.

As you said you love your DAKKA DWF-S. I looked at one from metamechs.
It costs 20.000.000 C-Bills plus 3 extra omnipods at price of 440.000 each.
It is extremly slow, so it is unforgiving in positioning.
It has 5 c-uac5 with only 520 units of ammo. So 52 Aphas (no idea how the GH allows it).

Ghost heat on C-UAC5s is VERY low. You can alpha 5UACs all day.

Dires are unforgiving, I would not recommend them if you cannot sit down and get used to 50 kph. If you're not moving at full throttle for 3 minutes at the start in a dire, you are left behind and rekt. And sometimes, this happens even if you do move at top speed.

It might be "obsoleted" by the KDK-3, but the Dires still pack more gun and therefore, more DPS. On open ground (when he cannot hillhump), I've made many a Kodiak sit down. In other situations or against a good Pokebear, this is only a pipedream.

You know there are other ways to build mechs, right?
...

Sure, but he talked to new players. CBills are limited. It is hard to buy a mech and experement with builds as a new player when a mech alone costs >17.000.000 + extra omnipods 440.000 each + equip. I never said, it is the only way to build mechs.

I wrote this example only to show that a mech can be absolut deadly in experienced hands and still be a bad recommendation for a new player. I'll try to write this next time a better way.

I like Summoners. That is the one Mech I always pilot.
I manage to keep a pretty steady 1.02 KDR and 1.0 win/loss ratio. Not great, but not terrible either. For a mediocre tier 3 pilot like myself ;)

They are challenging to "learn," not exactly easy to win in, and a lot of fun.
I like them in MWO because they are not part of the Meta, have jump jets, and I love the way they look.

There is also some sentimental history as well:
When I initially started playing Mech Warrior 2 I really liked the Timber Wolf. But after reading the BattleTech novels I gained a kind of admiration for the Summoner and have been piloting them ever since.
I still like Timber Wolves because they are bad mofo's, but I love Summoner best :)

disclaimer: if there any typos it is Siri's fault. Happens all the time and I might not have caught them all.

If I had to pick just 1 Mech that would be the WHM-BW, that is my most effective Mech and I do like piloting it, however it is towards the slow end of what I like to pilot at (I think) only 86 KPH

Other serious contenders would be GRF-3M, Shadow Cat, Spider (except Anasi), FS9-E, Viper, Marauder

Those are my favorates but are not all new player freindly

If only a single mech then I'll choose the boring but excellent Timberwolf for its versatility.

Going by the games basic 4 mechbays though I'd pick one from each weight class

Light: Jenner-F, yes my Arctic Cheetah performs far better and the rescale was not kind to the Jenner but this is the mech I learned the game in and somehow it's a far more trilling ride without the ECM and causing general mayhem. I'm sad that seeing any Jenner outside of the IIC's or the rare Oxide is now a source of amazement. The rescale did a lot of good for a lot of mechs but it was downright awful for several mechs.

Medium: Such a hard choice. Dual ERPPC Blackjack, the YLW or maybe my 12 ERSL Nova? I think the Nova barely outstrips the Yen-Lo-Wang here, but just barely. Nova it is.

Heavy: My least played class and the one where I own the fewest mechs out of the 70 I have. Going to choose the fun mech and say Grasshopper 5H, due to tabletop nostalgia as well but I just like how it plays. Other Heavies are better but this one I find the most fun (also note that all 3 mech choices up to now have JumpJets, I love JJs)

Assault: Got a good number of Assaults but this is an easy choice. Atlas-S, it puts the 'raw' into 'brawl'.

twisted numbers? pretty sure you meant 68kph (which is rather slow indeed).
I totally agree on the effectivness of the BW, or warhammers, timberwolfs etc in general.
Tho, that is precisely why i wouldn't roll any of those versatile "top tier" mechs as my get to go choice.
I always question myself "is that me and my performance or is it just the mech?"
If ya play good in a not so good mech, ya will do exceptionally in a good mech.
Of course, that is out of comp or carry mode situations.

No numbers were correct, I hate piloting Mechs slower than about 75, with a 340 engine and speed tweak the WHM is fast enough for me to feel comfortable with, but untweaked it was right on the bottom end of what I concider to be acceptable speed

Gotcha, was just that 86kph is out of reach for a BW and my own is running at arround 68kph (cuz dem ballistics).

May be 84 then, I know it is mid 80s but do not pay too much attention to the precise speed.

Edit: I checked and it os 84.6 so I was 1.4 or 4. Out depending on your perspective

Easy answer. Banshee. For me, anyway. I prefer the -3M and -3E especially, but the -3S isn't bad either with a gauss and LPLs. Shield arms...mmmm.

Atlas

It is (IMO) the Alpha and the Omega mech. It is favourite. I have piloted it from the start and have piloted it to the finish.

36,120,075 XP

Mmmmmmm..... yes

Mech-Cellent!

Christ almighty damn!!!! I just thought I liked my Atlas, and I've only got 10M xp in it.

Tell me... Whats more frightening... A direwolf packed with a 100 tons of devastation... Or a 100 ton pink teddy bear mech with retractable claws and heart decals?

Claws and hearts - no question.
