Any hint what the new Steam packs will be? I hope they took the advice of Bishop (I think it was him) and did a token to make any mech an (S) mech with CBill bonus. But, I doubt it.

I was waiting for this sorta sale to actually buy these packs. Of course I have to get a steam account, download and install the MWO steam version, buy the performance packs, link into my regular MWO account, and then uninstall the steam version.... but hey for 40% off CAD dollar prices on these packs... yes please.

Goodness Darn It, just give me the code!!! I do not want to install the steam version of MWO. The patcher has served me find for years.

Installing MWO Steam now. I bet after I install everything, the game will just pop up and say here is your code, please redeem on website...

steam takes a cut, that's why the steam packs have only gone on sale three times now since the release.

The only downside to installing steam is how slow the connection is to their servers when D/L the mwo files compared to the PGI servers for their direct app version. I'm seeing about 4Mb/s from steam vs the 20Mb/s I get from PGI. Still, at the discount and regional pricing they're now a very good value for the content (to someone who owns most of the chassis types already... no need to buy extras to skill them out, and in a few of the cases I own the basic versions of the same mechs already in a mastered state, so I have the option to simply rebuild these (S) versions as I have the non (S) ones already, and then sell the non (S) ones to free up bays and pocket extra c-bills. Also I haven't bought any of the phracken colors during the halloween sale already and don't own any of them yet.

You must play in a really odd TZ as I've never failed to get a match and that's including restricting my server. Does it take a few minutes at time sure... but that's a different thing from what you're stating.

Having the Steam version is quite nice. Automatic updates are amazing Not to mention a far superior chat interface.

The penalty for that though is the steam client and the steam MWO interface suck up more memory than the plain PGI MWO connnection, and the fps rate is marginally lower (which if you have a high end system a 5fps drop probably won't matter, but when you're already down to 20fps at some moments on a map, being dragged down to 15fps isn't so fun).

I don't see an fps penalty, 50 fps both clients with gen3 I5 gtx660, perferences all set to high.
