Hello mechwarriors!
Do you have any viable builds for the KGC-000 to suggest?
I am trying to use a STD300 dual AC/20 (given the mech quirks) + 2xSRMS4 + 2LLs but it's very situational and it is not working well. The mech is slow and the dual LLs does not fit well with the AC/20 in my opinion.
Moreover, while this variant has an interesting AC/20 cooldown quirk, with the dual AC/20 build I am sacrificing the 6 ballistic hardpoints the mech has in the arms.
Should I try something different (like an XL engine) or dropping the lasers for better SRMs and/or bigger engine?

I know Rak used to recommend a 2AC20 2LPL build for the 000, but I'm not sure if it still works.

Using all 6 ballistic hardpoints is kinda a stretch, you gotta go down to AC5/AC2 mixes that work, but the weapon synergy can be trying. Still, stupid DPS even without double taps.

4AC5+LL/4UAC5 will still be very solid if you cannot find anything else.

Disclaimer: I don't own King Crabs. Comments are based on my experience with the BNC-3E and my (now sold) MX-90. And smurfy, of course.

Dual AC 20 is fun, but it's just not that great due to ghost heat. I'd go with an ac 20 and ac 10, because that circumvents ghost heat.

I will admit, I sold the King crab before I ever tried this, but I do believe this build might be pretty good. It's like the AC 20, 2x PPC Misery build, but with two autocannons for increased heat mitigation.

I’m running the dual AC20 with 1 or 2 PPCs combined (Idk atm).

For UAC5 builds one usually takes the KCB-000B, same as for dual Gauss builds, but ofc one can substitute it with the 000, they only differ by quirks after all.

I used 4x UAC5 and 2x MPL for a while, but in the end I just went back to 4x AC5, 2x MPL and SRM6. Sure, there's less volume of fire from the guns but it's a more reliable stream (and for some reason a more satisfying noise) and the SRMs add a nice sucker punch sting to it for when you inevitably get your fat *** too close

Multiple AC5s make a sexy firing sound. And so do AC10s. UAC sound is bland and unsatisfying for me. :D

But… is the upgrade prom AC5 to UAC not one the most worthy investments?

Sure, but not in terms of the sound. :D

If you want to be effective, then 4xUAC5+2xML+STD320, 270 ammo, rest armor + 2 heatsinks.
If you want to use 20s... First, STD300 is completely inadequate for boomcrab. You'll need at least 320 or even 340 and load of heatsinks. Now this leaves very little option for sidearms, basically either 2xLL or 2xLPL, which still be very situational and still cause heat issues. Personally I never had any notable success with 20s on 000 despite the quirks. I had some good games with 0000 4xMPL+2xAC20+STD340 though. This one doesn't have any ballistic quirks, and runs extremely hot, but it gets the job done better, from personal experience.

335 is a good engine size. :)
Also, I largely prefer engine size to leg or head armour. You can even sacrifice some arm armour, if you have weapons in the arms, due to it's quirks. Unless you are really good in shielding with you arms and actually use the armour there.
You have to aim to the sky while twisting to shield your torso. It's something one has to get used to, which doesn’t happen if you are piloting the fat crab only between other Mechs and note solely, and in addition you only get to shielding if you don't use a build for staring down opponents.
Dual AC20 stares down because you fire them one by one, so do (U)AC5 builds.

So…

That is cause STD300, you're too slow IMO.

If you're gonna AC20, this is how you do it CLICK ME

Or do a LL/UAC5 like SO, works quite well, bit more mobile as well. Just stay at 500m... That is the key.
