But imagine this, when you have 5 red diamonds. When you fire LRM 20, instead of hitting one, you hit THEM ALL!
That would be such a cool kick@ss spectacle. Imagine 5 mechs with LRM suppression over AREA instead of a single target.
It's the first AoE attack in the game! And will definitely set it apart from any other weapon type.
So how about it? AoE LRM! Make it happen PGI!
As a heavy LRM user.. Errrrr.... HELL NO!
LRMs are spread enough as it is, and if large LRM launchers spread their damage over multiple targets, AMS would simply nullify ANY damage from LRM.
Also, this would make it even harder for LRM users to be effective, get kills and such. It would be scratching the armor instead of doing damage.
PGI would have to implement multiple target tracking, just for this one weapon system, and that's simply not worth the Dev hours.
Also, most serious LRM boats use LRM5's and would continue to do so, so they would still hit the same single target.
Besides, enough people already cry and whine over lurms, we don't need to encourage them further..
It's just not a good idea.
Sorry.

It's often hard enough to find 1 good target for LRMs, let alone 5 good targets.
I'm not opposed to it, I just don't think it would have a big impact on gameplay for good players.

It's possible...just not probable in this game with these devs.

Make all LRMs fire x/5 packets of missiles that deal 5 damage to a single location. So an LRM5 fires one packet, an LRM10 two packets, 15 three, 20 four. Now the spread is significantly reduced and the damage output increased.
Compensate by making AMS work against these packets by removing shared AMS coverage. AMS only protects yourself. Each AMS equipped knocks out one packet of missiles before it hits you. Two AMS would knock out two packets. Three would knock out three packets. Calculated on a per packet basis. However, those packets would need, again, to be fired at you specifically. Your AMS does nothing for your allies whatsoever.

No man. Like a rocket pod mounted on a helo, or the back of a rocket carrier combat vehicle. It is a point and shoot weapon, an unguided missle. They come in racks of pods just like a missile. , or
In the second video at about 40 seconds in it shows him firing multiple of the rockets, which is called a "ripple" those are laser guided rockets, but there are also unguided ones. They were used a lot in the Vietnam era.

LRM20s are garbage. 4 LRM5s are more accurate, more compact, lighter, have faster cooldowns, and can can be chain-fired for suppression if need be. They're a bit hotter, but that's not a big deal when they can kill the target faster due to better spread.
Ths only limit is missile hardpoints, but many mechs nowadays are loaded with missile hardpoints.
