I came to MWO because i enjoyed the earlier titles. Thankfully I didn't trust all the pie in the sky promises to the founders because i did a little research and I dropped the idea. Once it went open I gave it a try. As a base game it was a lot of fun but soon developed into an arena shooter with mechs and beyond "you want to buy a mechpak" it became stale. Still is some 35k matches later it's a drag and I play less and less. I get mad at myself every time I come back. Beating a dead horse makes you feel like that.
The issue is the way Russ handled it from the start and the way he still handles it,. He is not to be trusted. He proved that so many times. Trust lost is next to impossible to regain. He is never really open with his vision and all discussion is sales pitch. He is a grifter and a poor one at that.
There is no way out of that now. Sure they could make a cumulative amount of small adjustments but the record is one forward three back and that hasn't changed. The PTS fiasco just solidified it for me. Ask people to come and try it and then hold back to back events while its happening. It was a ruse from the start. It being cancelled just showed there was no interest from the start and it meant to keep people guessing/hoping for some change for the better.
Sorry, It's over an been over a long time now. No amount of filtering out dissent will change that. Mech Con will be a joke. It will be another parade of promises and incomplete ideas unless its e-spurts related. Well maybe, they failed at that too.
Such a great game idea, such great art and effects. So many good people at PGI wasted. All at the captains direction.
My only hope is someone tries again down the road. But hope is for those already defeated. There is no hope with Russ at the Helm.

Oh, come on now...say what you will about Russ and his poor handling of this property and his amazing knack for alienating his customers. But he is most certainly not a "poor" grifter. His ability to tease a hopeful future and inspire otherwise intelligent people to think "well maybe this time he means it" and then convince themselves to buy another of his mech packs even knowing the futility of that purchase and that hope; makes it clear to me that he is most certainly a very accomplished grifter.

I'm trying to mitigate some of the derision around here!
That said... I'm a connoisseur of high-quality snark. I had to log in just to like this...

Great post. Totally dismantles the delusion of BW and others like him.
You put it in a much nicer frame work than I do but this is exactly how how feel.
I to think Mechcon will be a joke and they will be outshined by HBS and every other vendor there. I would at least like to thank PGI for the art which is about the only thing they have done right, after all they are perfecting it since all they provide as content which really isn't content is endless skins to play their minimally developed game.
