I need to be this sensible and restrained.

This was my process so far:

1) Looked at all the mastery bundles.

2) Decided what I was interested in and worked out builds.

3) Worked out the cost of XL engines I would need for those builds after comparing to current stock and ones I'd get in the packs. Decided that 61,332,000 on engines was doable as I've got 129,266,755 on hand so still plenty to outfit a lot of the 25 mechs (8 mastery + 1 hero).

4) Added up the MC price... woah!!!!!!!!

5) Starts doing maths on which bundles to just buy the heroes in..... (Battlemasters, Banshee's, Cataphracts and Orions yes I'm looking at you with your crap std engines).

Oh well good way to waste time I guess.

I try to have 12-20 on hand after a mb sale. It also depends on how many mechs you have and how many more you *want*

Consider that mb sales are getting rare so assume there won't be one for 6-12 months.... now consider what mechs you are eventually going to buy in that time frame. If you are a meta-chaser, add 6 more mb to the count when the meta shifts and you suddenly need mechs you weren't planning to buy originally (fyi never sell mechs).

That pretty much sums up my process if it helps...

I guess that's the point. You can play this game for free, getting every single mech, playing all game modes, factions etc. with just this one sole exception, why should it be heavily discounted on a regular basis?

@Amaruside: That is exactly what I'm trying to say. And not out of just sheer laziness. I got into MOW via Steam. Any time you try to do ingame purchases via MOW...it kicks you back to Steam...because they want you to buy via their own site $$ system...which is pain in itself. THEN you need to change that over to MC to do purchases on MOW.

OR, in past it has been MUCH easier to log on to MOW site directly, purchase w/e I want (mastery bundles, gift shop mechs, etc) and not have to hassle with multi-site hopping and I can use 1 single PayPal point to do it.

But lesser of 2 evils is doing nothing and saving my $$... is much easier when my impulse to buy is outweighed by my annoyance to get it.

Guess I just didn't quite understand, and am probably still confused a bit. When you mentioned them putting stuff on the webpage up for sale I went back and checked. They did do a webpage sale tied into a mastery bundle sale earlier this year, but from what I saw that was the only webpage sale. That and the stuff on the webpage is always on sale from the normal in game prices.

I agree doing webpage sales more often could bring in more revenue. I know I bought resistance 2 and several mechs this go around.

As far as not getting steam involved, I do this by signing into the MWO webpage through my chrome browser. However I usually have both chrome and MWO running side by side. I only buy through steam if it is a performance pack that I want (not sure if I will get the new ones yet). I can see how using your steam wallet can be to advantage for some, but it is not for me. As you said before it adds too many steps.

i've won so many mech bays this year I don't actually need to buy any on sale. I've got like 20 empties already in a garage containing nearly 190 mechs.

That is a lot. For a long time I thought having around 100 bays would be the upper limit for me.. until I crossed it today and now I'm at 130.
But man, 190 mechs?

(Mind you, I sell a lot of em, keep only 1 or 2 variants that are the most fun)

I know what you mean I never thought I'd be at 243 with 60 empty on top as so many gaps to fill in. I don't like to sell them though.

That said I did find out I hated assaults levelling the Kodiaks after mostly playing mediums and lights till then so most of those are just sitting there from the last assault sale.

I bought a huggin on sale, needed two more ravens anyway after my steam light pack came with the 3L(S). Not enjoying the 4X so that's gonna get sold. Its quirks and hardpoints are rather redundant to other mechs I own.

WTF? I was about to buy 10 and saw this. Bait and switch, price increase without notice, regardless that leaves a sour taste in my mouth and my hoarded MC in the bank. Best case is that this was an error.
