This would be a terrible idea, because match score doesn't reflect how good players are. Consider how easy it is to get a 400+ match score in an AWS-8R versus a Victor, for example. A guy trying to master Vindicators would end up in Tier 5 within a week. Furthermore, match scores are heavily biased towards heavier mechs. All the Tier 1 players would be assault jocks. And matchmaker would struggle to find enough Tier 1 light mech players for them anyway.

Agreed.

WLR is the most consistent metric of how good a player is.

no. Only in a 1 on 1 scenario, or static competitive Group play(same players all the time), is win really important.

My own stats says that the weight class i play might be the defining factor of how well i do. If i was to always do great in light (ahah!) and badly in Assault, then the match maker should take that into account. Grinding the basics takes 7-9 match, eliting takes another 15 match and unless you're a completely new player, 25-30 match do not affect stats in a meaningful way and if you ARE completely new it makes no difference since youre down in t5 anyways.

My own solution would be to add more tier, harder xp gain. But whats the point, we already mix everyone with only 5 tier for lack of enough players.

No

There are many important jobs that suck to do at times, don't reward points or $, but win the match (Being the tip of the spear, not getting in to a good firing position because you have to protect friendlies against LRMs, Chasing off lights, suiciding to stop a cap, chasing points on Conquest......). The list goes on. Scores aren't representative of how much a player contributed, and never will be, all that matters is W/L. Good players will win more than bad players.

It is not supposed to work that way (tier 3 used as seed allowing grouping of all tiers). They have stated that tier 1 should never end up grouped with anyone below tier 3 for example. So the seed should not matter for that constraint to hold.

The only thing I remember was that they said that the tier bracket used in matchmaking will never exceed +/-2 Tier levels. So, +/-2 of what? I have assumed that the matchmaker spawns its process on one player, take his tier and tries to fill it with the same tier opponents, then expand to +/-1 and finally to +/-2 after 2 minutes or so.

If you would never ever be in a game outside +/-2 for every player in the match, then it in practice means +/-1 from the seeding player, unless the seeding player is Tier 1, in that case it's still tier 1-3 allowed, exactly as for a tier 2 seeded game.

Could be, but I've spectated team mates lately that I very much doubt could be Tier 3.
