From http://www.sarna.net/wiki/OmniMech

"An OmniMech is a highly configurable (sub-)type of BattleMech developed by Clan Coyote during the Golden Century. OmniMechs mount some (or all) of their loadout in modular OmniMech-compatible OmniPods."

Omnies in this game are strictly used by clans only. Then by this logic it is clan tech.

AS for the other part: face to face stand down does not require a lot torso twist... But i get you point,

And the Nova is developed by the Hells Horses, yet all clans have them. developing =/= using it.

at the moment omnis are clan only because fo the timeline but IS will get omnis too. and then they get their very own heavy NVA, the Black Hawk KU.
But boating to a dgree you dscribe it hardly ever happens most boatings happen around 5-6 weapons (less for the Ballistic boats) and here most mechs, no matter of omni or bttle fit in.

All (current) MWO omnimechs are clan tech. Not all clan mechs, however, are Omnimechs. There's a substantial difference, but those differences don't really have anything to do with what you've brought up in this thread.

Face to face combat is exactly when torso twisting matters the most. The only time you shouldn't be twisting like a lunatic is when you have high rate-of-fire weapons like clan UA/Cs or Inner Sphere AC/2s. You should either be doing full twists to block with your arms, or be jiggling your torso around in 30-ish degree movements like you're working for tips.

thats why he failed in the centurion, CNT is very good at twisting, given you do it. The essence of twisting is so vital in this game, especially against lasermehcs like the NVA.

also Nforcer, look at the match I posted, my Iceferret just has 5SPL's and did nearly the same damage as the Niova, so seriously how is that omnimech 12 hardpoint thing so relevant?

Please stop complaining about some mechanics when it's not the mechancis being the problem, please improve your own gameplay to a degree where you start having enough knowledge and experience about the mechanics. Then you are able to even make a proper discussion. So far you have just shown half broken knowledge paired with medicore gameplay. and this won't lead to a proper discussion. CQC or your face to face stand down is all about twisting like a ballerina while unlaoidng your volleys in short twiststops. except your have some stream Ballistic weapons. it is one of the most essential keys to CQC success. your sideprofile of the centurion is especially well suited for twisting, not doing that is not utilising one of thats mechs biggest strength.
Go and be a ballerina, you will see you will survive longer. And if you don't believe us watch successfull gamers on youtube or stream and see how vital twisting is.

Well it is obvious your a IS pilot or you would realize that while you might be able to mount all those weapons, you won't be able to use them because of all the fracking heat they generate. Often as not, Clan weapons look more impressive on paper than they actually perform on the mech. I even did an entire post a while back pretty much proving that pound for pound, inch for inch, IS medium lasers are superior to Clan ER MLs. I am not going to post the entire topic again but the summary is that IS ML are cooler, faster firing and easier to concentrate damage with due to the shorter beam durations. Also when you count the extra heat sinks that the Clan mech must mount to cool its ER ML compared to the IS mech and its ML, you are generally also devoting significantly more weight and much more critical space on a weapon per weapons basis than when using IS weapons. Finally the shorter beam duration means that from a defensive perspective you end up a significantly shorter "face time" when engaging the enemy which in turns means you tend to take less damage when engaging the enemy.

This is before quirks are added to the equation which tend to make the IS weapons either cooler, fire faster and/or reduce the range advantage of Clan weapons significantly.

The point is, there is alot more balance between Clan and IS mechs and weapons than many people see or are willing to admit.

Yes unfortunatley my experience and view on this is heavily biased by the fact that I have only a Timber as a representation for in-game clan tech. After a long thinking and self-reflection I have to admit that clan tech is not as OP as it seems for the first sight.

I meant direct rushing on opponents and shoot as much as you can. I'm aware of the twisting technique but I forgot to apply it most of the time (again my poor skills). As I said one post earlier after a serious self-reflection I realized most of my 'fustration' is because I am not skilled enough... I still think there are ridicoulus cases of weapon number boatin on clan mechs. I'd still say the concept i have brought up could prove interesting,

Also I need to ask the OP something. You realize if you make omni pods non swap that means you need to turn them all into battlemechs, right? The whole point of omnimechs is to make weapon swaps easier because they are kind of plug and play with weapons at the cost of not being to modify internal structure in order to make those changes easier, effectively giving them quick point harnesses for electrical systems. The major advantage for omnipods over a battlemech was the fact they could be refitted in hours on the field, instead of the weeks it takes for normal mech changes. We have no mech time limitations so making them battlemechs would actually be beneficial in my mind.

If you take away the one thing that would make them omnimechs then everything would need to be open. Not that I would complain, a lot of mechs I truly enjoy could use the FF and Endo upgrades to make them more than mechs I like to actually viable for play.

I've read many novels, thus I'm more or less clear with the lore and time line. As for the rest, the first thing I admitted is that I am an average player at best. Bashing me for that makes you sort of hostile. Deep down i know that most of my problems come from this fact. I still think the advantage of clans being able to load ridicoulus number of weapons on their mech is a bit unfair, but I admit that on large scale the balance is quite ok. And yes I need to improve, but that does not invalidate a claim on it's own, makes it worthles to think about the idea I posted first. Don't act you are all-knowing.

Yes, this would be a deviation from the lore.

You aren't getting what I am saying. If you lock hard points they become Battlemechs. They would no longer be omnimechs.
