So what is the real difference between Obsidian Black and Hotrod Black? I have no idea as they look the same in the UI. No one in my unit has both and can answer this. The ones that have Obsidian from the Black Widow event say it is "glossy". Anyone who has both or seen both please provide some feedback.

Cheers!

A lot of MWO colors are just very very slight tint changes.

My first unit had either of those as our official black, they're basically indistinguishable.

You can experiment with colors in mechlab without buying. Put them on the same mech and see what you think.

And even then the change is so slight that you can't tell with even the best monitor. So the difference is only in the name. Grey and "Resistance White"...different? I can't tell. Sapphire and "Resistance Blue"? They look the same on my screen. And yes, "Hotrod Black" and Obsidian...as fasr as my eyes can tell, they are identical. I'm not even going to get into the reds.

Obsidian black is the closest thing you can get to Pure black.
Hotrod black is like... Black with a red tint.
Buccaneer black is black with a greenish tint, i think.
