HI mech bros I wanted to get a quick count on how many ppl still use old outdated mechs and get good results. Like the SHD or Kintaro, Treb, QDR, just the ones that arent seen much anymore.

I personally use and love my SHD-2D and 2D2. Idk why but I work with that mech put up 500+ DMG constantly with 1-3 kills.

So what is your fav outdated mech that is still in use?

Cataphracts and it's not "outdated"!
(3L is a welcomed addition with loyalty camo and MASC).

Depends on the old mech. Shawks are a bit useful even though a Clan HBK can do its job just the same. Kintaros and Treb just suck especially since Maddogs exists. It comes down to whether there is a new replacement for old mechs.

If Clan AC's werent ****, then the Crow would replace most mediums. Since its stuck using a DOT ballistic weapon, it cant twist like other IS mediums can.

Just last night I broke out an old Wolverine, the 7K with a lore-flavoured "superstock" build. 280XL, 5 JJ, LPL, ML, 3xSRM6. 600+ damage on first try, and much fun was had.

I'd argue though that almost any 'mech still "has it in them" for quick-play purposes. Posted Image At least at Tier 2 the gameplay isn't so good that you couldn't manage there with any halfway-reasonable build, provided you play with some care.

Even though it has been nerfed once again into obscurity (excepting the IV-4), the Quickdraws are still my favorite and best mechs. Second is the Cataphract D and Illya, I just love those things even with all their faults and the fact that they are indeed obsolete they are a lot of fun. Jaggers and T-bolts too. Never understood why Jaggers are not considered with more regard.

I can't really consider BJ's or Griffin's "outdated" (but they are my two favorite mediums). In this game, I don't care how old the mech is, if it has mostly high hard points, it is always going to be fairly fresh if not perpetually near the top performers (see Jaggers above...still some of my best stats, not that that means much coming from me).

I'm finding BJs with their present quirks, hitboxes and relative scale to be absolute pains-in-the-arse as of late...

I "almost" fear them more than Kodiaks. Posted Image

How far back to qualify as "old" for purposes of this discussion?

I still get good results and have fun with:

BNC-3E, 3M
TDR-5SS
Ilya (double AC10's)
Misery (generally any of the decent Stalkers)
DDC, AS7
Dragons (1C, Fang)
GRF (still solid enough for use in comp play)
Jagers
SHD
WVR
TBT-5J

I mean....I get alot of good results from IS mechs...really just depends on when you set the "age limit" here lol.

Old as is before clans showed up or (man I have played this game for awhile and still suck) could go back as far as before the Frat popped up. But really looking for who plays the mechs that are rarely seen on the battlefield. When i see another shawk on my team it is a nice surprise. also Trebs use to like them, now that has to be the least seen mech i can think of.

The Catapult CPLT-C1 (F) is one of 4 of the oldest mechs in the game and it's still got some kick in it. But the Catapult isn't really 'outdated' I guess.

Do you mean to ask if people are still using 'meta-trash' with good results?

Oh, sorry then, can't help you there. I only play OP mechs like the Catapult, Jagermech, and Urbanmech.

The Catapult-K2 still kicks ***. It was my first mech and it still holds up.

Other contenders that are old but still relevant in my opinion:
- Hunchback
- Thunderbolt
- Cataphract
- Stalker
- Banshee

There could be more but those are the ones that come to my mind.

Jagers, Banshees, Ravens, Shadow Hawks. Still my most trustworthy mechs. All of them made my steps into their respective classes, easy but with enough challenge to at least Elite them. 4 corner stones that I need to pilot more. Have so many others to pilot alos, not to forget I got many clan mechs too.

I played the SHD-2K (3LPLs) and did consistently very well in it.

I also did pretty well in Hunchbacks with a 999 damage game in HBK-4P (medium lasers).

You can't get much older than the Hunchies. Posted Image
