Here's my idea:

Everytime some friggin event noob screws up a scouting match and loses he has to pay each member of his faction that is currently in a invasion match on the same planet lets say 100.000 c-bills.

Discuss.....

So sending the broke noob, broke even faster, helps how?

I understand your frustration but a descent tutorial and better win conditions (that don't involve rushing the LZ at the last second) would be better options.

(yeah I know I am dreaming about the tutorial part)

Well. Maybe you should help the "friggin event noob" to get better. Buy him a mechpack I am sure it will help him.

I kinda understand his frustration having been forced to run with LRM Centurions in my drop a few times. Not that there is any easy way to train up pugs prior to an event.

Faction Play should require a minimum of X played QP matches and an Invasion and Scouting Tutorial that has to be successfully completed before you can join FP.

This should at least reduce the frustration of players that are new to FP as well as those that are already into FP.
Nothing is more annoying than to have a full lance in your team that is completely new to this game mode and scores with 4 mechs only a damage of ~400...

How about every time a friggin noob screws up, the vet not having been able to guide him has to pay?

Lost three solo scout drops yesterday due to "noob" players not playing up to the level required by our opposition. But instead of blaming them, I recognise I didn't lead enough, didn't notice them not following the push in time and thus couldn't correct the mistake in time. At the end of the match, I typed pointers, not accusations.

Wouldn't help at all. One of the most harmful activities they show is inactivity. Peek-a-boo fighting, holding off on a push, being too defensive. Plenty of that around as well in unguided QP.

You try, they don't listen.

One guy tonight said this:

Him: "So, any tips to help me out"

Me: "Don't bring a bloody PHX to scouting, they are simply a bad mech choice for a brawl"

Him: "I'll report you"
I mean FFS... IS wonders why it cannot scout for ****. It's the attitude/ignorance... I barely drop call a PUG FP Invasion drop anymore because there are just too many peanuts out there these days. Particularly during FP based events, it's just a cesspool of idiocy.

Clan in scouting is easy mode. A NVA totally out-guns a CRB. Given those two mechs were the "pick" by PGI, they were prolific... There is no way I'd lost a fight to a CRB in a NVA because they are suited for difference purposes as but one example.

That said I usually do well in scouting as IS and win far more often than I lose. But then usually I'm at least playing with one mate. 2 people focus firing can kill 3 unorganised clanners easily enough.

First of all, how would you determine if he's just a "Friggin Event Noob"? Number of matches in QP? Number of matches in FW?
W/L ratio for FW? Tier? Solo vs. group?
Second If you lose a match with No "F.E.N.s", Does that make the most underperforming player automatically a F.E.N. and will he have to pay then as well?
What happens if there is 0/0 on Invasion and there are only F.E.Ns dropping on scouting? Do they get a free pass and don't have to pay because there is nobody to pay the penalty to?
During an event there naturally are many F.E.N.s around. So having the chance of receiving free 100.000 Cbills for doing nothing else than sitting in Invasion Queue, would most likely attract more F.E.N.s to join Invasion Queue and hope for other F.E.N.s to screw up on scouting. Especially if you lose 50% of Cbills because you are playing in Jade Falcon as a Mercenary...
Which brings up another question, would mercs then receive a negative modifier on their F.E.N.-Screwup Bonus, and would the F.E.N. then have to pay less or what would happen to the non distributed C-Bills.
And last... The F.E.N is supposed to pay each member in Invasion Queue of his faction. Say they are attacking so there are no members of other factions in the queue. 12 are minimum to get a match so a minimum penalty of 1.200.000 C-Bills.
Does the F.E.N need to have this amount of cash on his account in Order to be eligible to drop?
What if a second dropship forms while his match is loading, now if the F.E.N screws up he owes his faction 2.400.000 C-Bills right? What happens if he does not have enough cash? Will he go into debt and have to slave it off to the worldbank of PGI? Will there be intrest rates?
Please clarify your idea further, I might be intrested in investing in your Pitch. I just need a more detailed business model.

You over-simplify what I wrote.

However, VOIP is good, but not everyone owns a headset. VOIP also won't transform you within minutes into a good player. That's why I think that several basic things should be first completed/taught via QP and tutorials. You can also learn situational-awareness in QP and not only in FP... ;)

Guiding newbies over VOIP also requires someone that will takeover the job of a drop-caller and even then you have sometimes newbies that won't listen to what the caller calls.

Better idea, get three friends.

That way only yourselves to blame for being 'noob'.

Your doing a QP/PUG style drop in CW, during an event, and complaining about the skill level of random PUGs. If you expect more then the QP/PUG mentality while doing PUG/QP drops, well, your going to continue to be very angry.

Of course the higher skilled pilots could scout themselves and guarantee that the percentages are favourable for the effects on the invasion matches but some "don't do scouting".

Considering the population numbers on the scout missions were so lopsided toward Clans, it's was virtually impossible to make an impact on those percentage numbers. My little group won 90% of our drops at the weekend and barely made a dent.

Ya, a big problem. I wish there was a way you could decline getting help from other factions to defend your planets -- at times a ghost-drop would have been a better defense than the "help" that was being given.
