We have to remember the LPL of the I.S. goes from 21 heat for firing 3 to 36.4 for firing 4, the C-LPL, on the other hand, goes from 20 heat for firing 2 to 37.2 for firing 3... that is why I posted 2 C-LPLs with 3 C-ERML and C-SRMs. As long as you are not going to Alpha left and right, I think 4 C-LPLs and ASRMs might be doable. Then put TAG or a Flamer in that last energy slot for giggles.

I've run 4xcLPLs on a WHK (26 DHS?) and it's worked quite well. You obviously need to stagger fire in groups of two - but very solid. Pretty lousy in CQ though :). I've also got a WHK outfitted the same way with a pair of SRM racks. Just too hot - couldn't fit in enough DHS to make that work for long range. 21-22 DHS wasn't enough for sustained firing... Sometimes I think less is more that way. The build I'll be interested in is 3xERPPCs with a pair of SRM racks. I run 3xERPPC (+GR) on the KDK-2 (22 DHS?) and it works - but a few extra heat sinks would definitely help.

I like ERPPCs for poptarting... or for firing from the second line with so many at the same time that you CT core out anyone that is not an Assault with max CT armor...

Anyways, having less options with the Warhawk vs. the MAD-IIC is rather absurd to me, but it is what we have to work with, so let us make the most of it!

Good luck with it! I do hope you can enjoy it.
A side note, the A and the C have Ballistics, and the C has the JJ's on top of that so you could do the Gauss/ ERPPC combos there.

Meh... Just too hot considering I can run 3xUAC5s and a pair of LPLs on the -A variant instead. Or 2xLPLs and a pair of UAC10s in the -C. I hate doing that because it really is easy mode for grinding up damage, but you can't really argue with what "works" for this game. Both of those combos are just lethal. The ballistic hardpoint clusters are mounted so high that it only makes sense to maximize what you get out of them.

These engines are throwing me off, I am used to the TT weights... these are heavier...

Reason is simply the Gyro and Cockpit weight values are beeing added to the engines weight.
3T for Cockpit since it always weights three tonns plus one tonn for every started hundred of engine rating.
The 400xl f.e. would come at (52,5T/2 for XL)+4T Gyro+3T Cockpit = 33,5T since everything is rounded up to half tonns.

I'm seeing PPCs again and again, and I'm wondering about the reason of using this heat-inefficient weapon on the energy-heavy variants of this Mech.

Basilisk, I figured that out... Thanks though
Kuaron, I like the ERPPCs, I have fun with them!
Mad wubs/ Wubauder is easily doable, particularly if you don't have the cash-y money for an XL engine. Molten Metal's channel on YouTube has one such build.

I instead just bough one 375 Engine and am swapping it between the MADs since it’s my first Can Battlemech (non-omni).
Considering PPCs – they are something I’d rather do on a Warhawk with his little but quirked hardpoints. If you are taking them on the MAD the only think you can do with your remaining hardpoints are small backup lasers. Another advantage could be a the high engine cap, but it stays a bracket build. Longer/larger lasers are too hot to pair up with PPCs.

Has nobody seriously posted anything like SCORCH yet?

With 2xLBX20 and 4xSRM6, it's cool, hits for 88 front loaded damage; it's a monster of a brawler. And that's with a 370XL - normally I'd run a 375 for the larger DHS space, but it doesn't really need it. Moar ammo instead :)

Naa, it has been proposed and discussed long before release. It's just too obvious for further discussion. Posted Image

Dang, Winter's Scorch build is better than my 4 ASRM+LB20X KDK-SB build. Amazing that an 85T mech can obsolete a 100T mech, but I think it just happened. Unless that Scorch is so hot it shuts down all the time?

The SB is not obsolete because it has about 40% more armor than Winter's build. The SB's MASC also lets it peek and maneuver better than the Scorch because of the acc/dec boost. 1v1 the SB should still win because it can take a lot more of a beating.

I prefer two LB-X and 4 ASRM6. Better coolingt and slightly faster with a XL375. Its a lot of fun!

Close to how I'm running my A, and once I got the feel for how to play it I can average 700dmg per solo quick play match. Not great for kills, though. Always seem to have end up with a buncha KMDD's.

My build for the A;
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...989b3f2bebacbb0

500 AC rounds (255/3 salvos) and I regularly have almost none left at the end of a match.

Doesn't obsolete the SB, as the SB has a lot of other advantages. It has more armor, spreads damage better, can bum rush at 90kph.

The MADIIC's long torso makes it terrible for extended brawls...

But 88pts of up front, cool damage via the LBX's and srms' is a boot in the face.

LBX... What? 10's? You can run 2x20 and an XL375 pretty easily, but not with Artemis too - that's a space problem more than anything else.

If speed was the issue, you'd be better off going to 2xlb20x and 4xsrm4.

Yes, the kind of missiles is an actual question for the LB20X-Scortch.
I don’t have the money to buy single Mechs for $15 each, so I can’t tell about mine, even if I’d like to have one, but you can find the missile spread numbers in these old patch notes.
Now, considering that Artemis gives -25%, you see that ASRM6 spread about as much as SRM4 (which is widely known, but there you have the numbers).
On a Clan Mech, one could think about taking SRM6 over SRM4, without Artemis, because there is only ½ ton difference. But than you have to consider the additional ammo spent on missing missiles. If you consider how often and assault Mech is shooting point blank, in comparison to lights who actually do, you know why people are often enough preferring SRM4 for Scorch even if the reload time stops fitting the LB20X’ one.

Anyone try the Scorch with 2 X UAC10 + 4 X ASRM6?

Am i the only one whose II-Cs are undestroyable? When i take my Warhawk out and the enemy hits it with a cotton ball it blows up immediately. But the Marauder II-C? Armor all gone, inner structur all red, one leg destroyed, both arms fallen off, still all weapons in the torso (4 PPC) work fine and i survive the match with 4 more kills. Posted Image
Never survived so much matches with less than 20% in the last months like i did in the last few days.

I use 10's, thats what the X stands for :P I use em for better range. And the ammocount on the 20's is so...meh. Besides that, the heatefficency with 10's is much better in my oppinion. But i eill give the 20's another try i think.
