A speedpainting I did yesterday, just wanted to share it with fellow BT fans.
I had ideas for storyboards and scenes for a BT movie floating around my head and wanted to bring atleast one of them together.

Essentially two Overlords dropping an invasion force over industrial bay area ruins.
Insignias aren't put on yet, see it as a Jade Falcon attack during the first wave.

I like the detail, two Clan Stars dropping out of the overlord.

Battletech Art would look sick as home decor. Sophisticated and nerdy at the same time! I think I could even sell the wife on that! :D

The painting is done in Corel Painter using a Wacom tablet, pretty much how Alex does his stuff (he's using photoshop though).
My goal with this sort of stuff is to make it look real and filthy, I tried out some new techniques on this one, worked well.

I do have it in high resolution (3000x1000), but I reckon I'm gonna go over it atleast once more and finish some detail (It's merely a speedpaint as of yet), so I wouldn't recommend rushing the copyshop too quickly :D

But thanks guys, cool you like it.

I'm gonna do some more BT stuff (Mechs!), I'll post them here once ready.

I must say, that is rather impressive, and I look forward to seeing anything else Battletech-related that you paint.

Most impressive. Now when you say speedpainted, just how much time to get to this point?

I always like seeing new artists show their stuff for the battletech community! So all I ask is... MORE!! Great scene, any chance we could see a finalized version when your done?

Took me about 2 hours I'd say, way more than I'd planned, the clouds where agony to get somewhat right, the ones on the right still suck. As stated I was experimenting a lot, I tweaked my tools during the session and putting different music on and and things, I'm not trying to be fast. Speedpainting just means you're doing it in one sitting front to back, it doesn't have to be like half an hour or so.

For now I'm only going to add insignias instead of adding much detail, feeling more like painting mechs actually.

/ I also did the dropships like 1000 times, I had full-blown detailed versions of them which didn't fit the rest and things, the entire setting with the sky/sea environment really was a pain, I'm no envo-artist by any means.

ok I like the artwork, but wouldn't those being clan dropships not make sense?
Don't the clans avoid civilian areas as part of their combat doctrine? Dropping 2 overlord dropships in the middle of a very large industrial complex is going to cause civilian casualties.

In theory you're right, but they're supposed to be ruins in which IS troops build a refugee, it'd be part of the "story" I was thinking about, forgot to write it out. The stuff doesn't look so factory fresh, does it? :P

Didn't have the time to go all painterly today, I did manage to do some study a crab torso, I just felt inspired by its retarded shape.
