Why is it when your in a light mech your skill rating is nerfed?
In one match piloting a Light, I killed an assault, a medium and a light.
But my skill rating still went down? WTF?!!?!?!
That is just stupid. Yes we lost the match, but my rating should have increased non-the-less.
I'm sick of dong well and getting multiple kills, doing more damage than I even have in armor and my freaking skill rating still dropping.
Something needs to be done to address this rating method and address this.
Your personal skill rating should reflect just that. YOUR personal skills, not the skills of the
PUGS you've dropped with.
just for your info I solo'd the assault and medium, both were undamaged in the given example. and yet I still dropped in the ratings.
I did 990Dmg total with 3 kills in a Jenner.
Losing rating under those circumstances is just wrong.

wow... you sure.. you didnt tk 3 people as well?

cause i go up even when we lose

The PSR system works like this:

If you win more than you lose, kill more than you die, and generally do a reasonable amount of damage, your PSR will go up over time.

If you lose more than you win it will go down unless you personally have good damage scores (450+), then it will stay the same or may even go down if your scores are sub-par.

Tier 5 and 4 can go quickly. When you hit Tier 3, progress generally slows down as you will now be dropping with higher level players. At 2, things really slow down as you are dropping with predominantly higher tier players. It becomes more difficult to have really high damage matches because the game-play is more team oriented, and lone-wolf players trying to maximize their scores are often quickly isolated and eliminated in matches.

Tips for increasing your PSR, if it is important to you, would be to play with a unit that is coordinated and wins more than they lose. Play mechs you are good in and have mastered rather than trying to master 100+ mechs. Learn to drop-call if you are dropping in the solo queue so you can coordinate your team and prioritize targets. These will all help you increase your average match scores and help your team win.

On a loss, if your score is high enough your PSR will increase slightly.

As TC posted, you can see that a flat win rate of 50% will generally push you up in tiers, though it might take some time.
