Lore-Based Cockpit Items, Please!

What about the Sun Hou-Tzu pendant Kai gave Victor as an hanging item?
What about the Word of Blake (the book) as standing item?
What about a Northwind Highlanders Warhorn playing bagpipes?
etc.
There are many, many good options just waiting to be implemented.

Kind of funny that one of the few lore-based cockpit items in the game (seriously, the amount of lore-based items is like 1%), the Kerensky hologram, was limited edition for a few select whales. Basically nobody has it.
Pay 2 Lore

So PGI try this:
Buy an old copy of "Mechwarrior the BattleTech Role Playing Game"...(the name ought to be suspiciously familiar, no?)
Open book.
On a weekly or monthly basis replace the dartboard of balance with random pages from this book.
Wherever darts land use that as inspiration for content...be it cockpit items, CW content, events or event rewards.
I know it's crazy...the idea of using the source material associated with those licenses you pay so much for to inspire actual game content, but give it a try. Your customers of "Mechwarior Online A BattleTech Game" might just be interested in that silly stuff.

I support this. It'll help us identify the Blakist before it's too late!
That being said, if their going to inject lore, maybe there's a better place to start then the cockpit (Not that there shouldn't be a ton there too). Like, I dunno... battlemech descriptions.

No, that's the fully completed but never to be released Flea model. Lore is what they use to prop up the break room table's legs so it wont wobble.

Not bad, but this one is better.
It goes with everything, even killing blows!

You don't seem to understand that the demographic of predominantly male 30-50 year old Battletech / Mechwarrior veterans are mostly interested in decorating their cockpits with:
- Ice cream
- Pancakes
- Cupcakes
- Lavalamps
- Plush monkeys
- Teddybears
- Scented candles
It's called marketing research.

This sort of thing just drives me nuts. For all the times Russ has mentioned the difficulty of monetizing the game, and yet there is so much potential if he just bothered to pay attention to who actually plays a video game based on this IP. I mean I can just hear the staff meeting:
"Okay team this month's event rewards is going to include a new cockpit item. I think the finalists were between a plate of Strawberry Waffles or a Sternsnacht Claymore heavy pistol. Lets see some hands...okay, waffles are the unanimous choice. Yeah, that one was pretty obvious from the get go. Everybody likes waffles and guns are kinda scary. Okay next on the agenda: player demographics...dem-o-graph-ics...hmm. I don't know that word, so we'll just skip over that, whatever it is. Ah yes, here's an item we can do quickly: yeah decals and colors...remember no pinks people that would make our mechs look silly, but hey Alex can you get your team working on maybe some smiling star dekkals that say things like 'Super Star' or 'I'm A Star'...that sort of thing. I think the toddlers playing our game would really that..."

Noone would disagree. But here is the thing: we will get new cockpit items; PGI will divert resources to create them.
And since we are getting them anyway I think it makes sense to get items from the lore rather than nonsense items. There is no loss at all because the resources needed are the same.
Lore-based cockpit items are a win-win deal.

Holy good god, logged in just for this. Hilarious and sad but true at the same time.

Though, um, us pinoys kinda do dig the Parangs and Bolos. Just saying. For once their market research isn't that bad.
I'm sure Chemistry students or Pharmacists/Chemists would dig chemical symbols on their mechs. RIGHT?!
