Server Population Trackers?

I don't know if they have to be set up with permission, but they mostly seem set up independently of the official game site?
Of course, I've no idea about programming such a thing, but it seems people are keenly interested in population.

When you can't join and leave matches realtime, alot of them actually doesn't make a lot of sense.

But I guess since we're in and out, maybe uniques per hour per server?

+1 tier QP matches pr. hour.
+2 tier QP marches pr. hour.
This shows the QP activity. But says nothing about a specific tiers activity.
Adding specific tier activity would probably keep alot of people away, since most would wait until their own tier saw high activity. It would also enable seal clubbing since people could wait for favorable activity in lower tiers, and low activity in their own tier.
I would actually prefere any activity to only be shown as historic data. That way the resolution could be really high and it wouldn't support sync dropping or people who wants to exploit the current server population in some way.

Because people were interested in population numbers

"These numbers do not indicate the numbers we want, Remove them. It is embarrassing."
That's the exact reason the feature disappeared when UI 2.0 rolled around.

iirc it was not UI 2.0 that removed it, it disapeared while still UI 1.0 during closed beta. In fact I think it was only in the UI for like a month or 2. And the quote was more like "The online player counter was removed as is too easy to misinterpret"

Thanks PrtScn you serve people well!
I wasn't claiming it was never in the game, I had a problem with the quote the other gut gave. which now makes it seem like dervish was being a little deceptive. Don't quote people and then either make something up or twist words. It's dishonest.

They removed it because people were using it as how many people played MWO and using to fuel doom and gloom this game is dying threads.

I've racked up insane hours because I sometimes (often) forget to shut that down

I've played MWO as of yesterday according to their numbers (because I logged in). However I haven't played a match since Feb.

It's not really that accurate as it assumes people are coming in through steam but still...

I don't think that anybody here is going to believe that more than 2% of players somehow rack up hours because of odd reasons like that.

one has to be careful and also understand how to reach charts. After December the game was drastically losing the new people that came through to steam. the chart shows an increase in the last months but a drop off again in the last 30 days. I can really only guess from this chart that the trend of increase and drop-off will continue due to the nature of online games and player retention.
this chart doesn't correlate with anything, that is also a major problem. another thing we can take notice is the difference between average and peek players, barring may the peak players have been around a stable mean average.

Yar, I already follow that, but considering how long the game was out before steam, I wonder about total numbers.

But that shows only who play mwo using steam.
Which is a very low population.

Due to P.G.I just copying what we already had, I never used it again to play M.W.O
